Racing on the Ricky Carmichael-designed track on the Daytona International Speedway tri-oval, Villopoto jumped out in front at the start of the main event, only to have a red flag force a re-start. According to Michelin, Power Pure tires weighs two pounds less than Bridgestones BT-016, Dunlops Sportmax Qualifier II, Metzelers Sportrec M3 and Pirellis Diablo Rosso tires. TTXGP Moves Electric Car Race

Originally scheduled for June 4-6 in Paris, France, the EMXGP will now take place Oct. 16-17 in Barcelona, Spain, to complement the Zero Carbon Transport Conference, Oct. 19-20. The event will feature electric cars racing on city roads. The originally scheduled event was also supposed to feature an exhibition on zero-emission motorcycles, and that is likely still on the agenda as the TTXGP Grand Final is set for Oct. 23-24 in nearby Albacete, Spain.

Reminder: Tax Deduction for New Streetbikes

Under the American Recovery Reinvestment Act, new vehicles purchased between Feb. 17 and Dec. 31 2009 may qualify for deductions to state and local sales and excise taxes. Qualified vehicles include street and dual-sport motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, cars, light trucks and motor homes. Motorcycles were a late addition to the stimulus bill, added after lobbying from the AMA and other groups.

2010 Royal Enfield Bullet Lineup

The 2010 Royal Enfield lineup will be built around a new fuel injected unit construction engine. First introduced in 2009 to meet Euro 3 emission regulations, the new engine will be installed across Royal Enfields entire North American Bullet lineup. The new engine places the five-speed transmission inside the engine casing. The transmission uses a seven-plate wet clutch Royal Enfield says is lighter and more accurate than the previous system.
