INTERMOT 2010: Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE
Aprilia unveiled the RSV4 Factory Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) Special Edition at the 2010 INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany. The APRC SE was developed using data from the 2010 World Superbike Championship that saw Aprilia claim the manufacturers title and Max Biaggi win the world championship riding the RSV4.

INTERMOT 2010: Ducati 1198SP Revealed
The 2011 Ducati 1198SP ads a number of upgrades to the standard 1198 including top-of-the-range Ohlins suspension, lighter chassis components, aluminum fuel tank and slipper clutch.

INTERMOT 2010: BMW K1600GT / GTL Unveiled
Motorcycle.com had a sneak peak at the 2011 BMW K1600GT sport tourer and K1600GTL luxury tourer back in July but BMW has finally revealed the two bikes to the public.

INTERMOT 2010: Horex VR6 Roadster
The Horex brand took another step torwards its resurrection with the presentation of the roadster in Germany. The new Horex motorcycle uses a VR6 engine using technology developed by Volkswagen.

INTERMOT 2010: 2011 Triumph Speed Triple
The 2011 Triumph Speed Triple gets an all-new chassis featuring a twin-tube over engine design. The twin headlights have been restyled for a more angular appearance instead of the previous models round lights. According to Triumph, the updates have made the 2011 Speed Triple about four pounds lighter with a claimed wet weight of 477 pounds.

INTERMOT 2010: Yamaha Worldcrosser Concept
Developed just for INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany, and Milans EICMA show, the Yamaha Super Ténéré Worldcrosser concept features a number of updates including lightweight suspension, an Akrapovic exhaust, a rally racing style screen and knobby tires.

INTERMOT 2010: Triumph Thunderbird Storm
The 2011 Triumph Thunderbird Storm is powered by a 1699cc liquid-cooled Parallel Twin engine with a 270 degree firing interval, up from the standard Thunderbirds 1597cc powerplant. Triumph did release a limited edition 1700cc Thunderbird for 2010, but that was merely the regular Thunderbird with the optional big bore upgrade kit included. Triumph claims 98hp at 5200rpm for the Thunderbird Storm, with torque rated at 115 ft-lb. at 2950rpm.

INTERMOT 2010: Honda CBR1000RR, CBR600RR
The 2011 Honda sportbikes were among the models displayed at the 2010 INTERMOT show which all received new colors and graphics. While other manufacturers unveiled new models at INTERMOT, Honda had previously announced it was saving its eight new models for the EICMA show in Milan in November.

Preliminary 2011 WSBK Calendar Released
The 2011 WSBK schedule will have 13 rounds, though two remain to be been finalized. The season begins Feb. 27, 2011, at Australias Phillip Island circuit and runs until Oct. 16 at Portimao, Portugal.

Royal Enfield Launches in California
Classic Motorworks, the American importer of the Chennai, India, based Royal Enfield Motors, has established a network of seven dealerships in California. Royal Enfields four-model 2010 Bullet lineup has been available in dealerships in other states since March and now the 500cc motorcycles can be sold in California.

News of the Ducati Diavel have been trickling out of Italy over the last few months, but only now has Ducati released official details about its first foray into the cruiser segment.

INTERMOT 2010 Drew 210,000 Visitors
According to event organizers Koelnmesse and the German Motorcycle Industry Association, the biennial trade show saw a 4% increase in exhibitors and a 5% increase in consumers compared to the 2008 show.

Brembo Announces Suzuki Partnership
When Suzuki unveiled its 2011 GSX-R supersports, one of the notable updates was the use of Brembo monobloc calipers. As Kevin Duke reported from the launch of the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, both new models were equipped with Brembo brakes as OEM components, a rarity for a Japanese manufacturer.

The new race machine will be called the Honda NRS250 (NRS stands for Next Racing Standard) and is not to be confused with Hondas championship-winning NSR series or NR series. NRS stands for Next Racing Standard and it is expected to be Hondas entry into the Moto3 class.

BMW Recalls for F650GS, K-Series Models
BMW issued a recall on K-series motorcycles from model years 2004-2010 due to a problem with the rear wheel linkage. The bearings of the link lever attached to the rear strut may become corroded under certain environmental conditions. Corroded bearings may restrict the movement of the link lever, affecting the bikes handling.

Honda Thailand Unveils 2011 CBR150R
While the 2011 Honda CBR150R will only be available in the Asian market, its design offers a preview of the next version of the CBR125R which is available in Europe and Canada, as well as the upcoming CBR250R expected to debut in November at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan.

World's Fastest Motorcycle on Display
The 20-foot-long, twin-engined, streamliner holds the motorcycle land speed record, recording a two-way average speed of 376.363 mph in September at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Ridden by Rocky Robinson, the Top 1 Oil Ack Attack streamliner surpassed the previous land speed record by 8 mph. Built and designed by Mike Akatiff, the record-setting motorcycle is powered by a pair of turbocharged and intercooled Suzuki Hayabusa engines.

Hungarian website MotoInfo published photos of the new Daytona 675R alongside official images of Triumph s new Tiger 800 and Tiger 800XC, which was also supposed to be revealed at EICMA in early November.

US Motorcycle Sales Continue to Decline
The industry trade group reports sales of 555,440 motorcycles and ATVs over the first three quarters of 2010, down from 679,806 units sold over the same period in 2009. Excluding ATVs, which had a 23.6% drop in sales, motorcycle sales decreased 15.3% to 368,752 units.

Honda Continues to Tease V4 Crossover
The latest image reveals a more refined look at the interlocking dual-layer design hinted at in the first teaser image. Honda will unveil the new V4 model at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan, but so far it has been revealed the new model has wide handlebars, offers an upright seating position, and uses a mid-sized V4 engine, likely to be in the 800cc range.

The 2011 BMW G650GS is based on the F650GS platform and becomes the entry-level member of the GS line of adventure bikes.

2011 BMW R1200R Unveiled
The 2011 BMW R1200R receives an updated boxer engine developed from the HP2 sport. The new 1170cc DOHC engine was added last year to the R1200GS and R1200RT, so its addition to the R1200R comes as no surprise. The updated engine has a larger rev limit than the previous SOHC engine (8500rpm compared to 8000rpm), with BMW claiming 110hp at 6000rpm and 87.8 ft-lb. at 7750rpm.

EICMA 2010: MV Agusta F3 Revealed
Revealed ahead of the 2010 EICMA show in Milan, the 2011 MV Agusta F3 is powered by a 675cc three-cylinder engine the Italian manufacturer claims is the most compact in its category. The engine uses a counter-rotating crankshaft to reduce vibration. No power or torque figures have been released yet.

EICMA 2010: Ducati Diavel
The Diavel marks Ducati s entry to the power cruiser segment, though Claudio Domenicali, general manager of Ducati Motor Holding, does not describe it as being just a cruiser. Perhaps borrowing from the Multistrada 1200Fs four-bikes-in-one rhetoric, Domenicali describes the Diavel as a combination of a naked streetbike, a cruiser and a sportbike.

Revealed alongside the Diavel cruiser, the 2011 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO adds a number of updates including ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Data Acquisition.

Dubbed the Crossrunner, the new model is what Honda describes as a combination of the flexibility and exciting attitude of a Naked performance machine with the upright riding position and rugged appearance of an adventure bike. Despite the adventure bike influence, Honda is clear about the Crossrunner being a road-only machine.

EICMA 2010: Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 Unveiled
The Stelvio reaches a record range thanks to a new, 8.45-gallon fuel tank. The massive tank has been rounded off by integrating it within the fairing. This flows into the double front headlight assembly, which was inherited form the previous version. The top fairing, windshield and the half-fairing with integrated turn indicators are all brand new elements.

EICMA 2010: BMW Concept C
The German manufacturer unveiled its Concept C at the Milan show, announcing it is planning two maxi-scooter models, and possibly an electric drive model. BMW Motorrad Chief Executive Officer Hendrik von Kuenheim hinted at in a story we published in June.

The Honda V4 Crosstourer concept uses the same engine and dual clutch transmission as the VFR1200F. Design wise, the Crosstourer looks more like the Crossrunner, which was also unveiled at EICMA.

EICMA 2010: Piaggio MP3 City Coming to US
Known as the Piaggio MP3 Yourban in other markets, the MP3 City will be available in the U.S. with a fuel injected 278cc engine claiming 22.4hp at 7500rpm and 17.1 ft-lb. at 6500rpm, which is a slight dip in power but more torque than the MP3 250 currently being offered by Piaggio USA.

Yamaha Reports Q3 2010 Results
Over the first nine months of 2010, Yamaha reported 987.4 billion yen (US$12.1 billion) in net sales, up from 858.5 billion yen (US$10.6 billion) over the same nine months of 2009.

Honda Reports Q2 2010-2011 Results
In the three months ending Sept. 30, 2010, Honda sold 2.7 million units (including motorcycles and ATVs) worldwide, up from 2.4 million units sold over the same period in 2009. Motorcycle sales generated 312.8 billion yen (US$3.7 billion) in net revenue, an increase of 13.6%.

Moto3 Rules Released
The new Moto3 class, set to replace the 125cc Grand Prix class in 2012, will use single-cylinder 250cc four-stroke engines.

Chad Reed Forms Private AMA-SX Team
