More on Honda V4 "Crossover"

Second sketch reveals front
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Oct. 19, 2010
Honda has released another teaser image for its new V4 adventure touring model which will be unveiled at the 2010 EICMA show, Nov. 2-7 in Milan.

Last week, Honda released the first image, showing an abstract shape superimposed on a shadowy silhouette of the new adventure bike (Honda is calling it a crossover, like the automobile segment which combines the features of an SUV and a car.) In this case, the term crossover refers to on- and off-road use.

The second image is a more detailed sketch showing the front face of the motorcycle. According to Honda, the new fairing is designed to improve high-speed stability as well as engine cooling.

Honda's second teaser image highlights the stacked headlight design and the raised instrument panel.

Above the stacked headlight, the sketch shows a floating instrument panel Honda says is raised to place it better in the riders field of vision.

The new crossover will use a mid-range V4 engine, likely in the 800cc range, putting it in competition with the BMW F800GS and Triumphs upcoming Tiger models. According to Honda, the new model will have a low center of gravity, wide handlebars and an upright seating position.

Honda will be presenting seven other models at EICMA including a new V4 concept model using the same engine as the VFR1200F.
