MotoCzysz to race 2010 TT Zero

American manufacturer to enter electric bike race on Isle of Man
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Feb. 22, 2010
MotoCzysz has signed on to race in the 2010 TT Zero on the Isle of Man.

The Portland-based manufacturer competed in the 2009 zero-emissions race on the Isle of Man, and is one of the first to enter the TT Zero after the Isle of Man TTs split with TTXGP.

We are very excited to be returning to the Isle of Man to compete in the 2010 TT Zero, says Michael Czysz, founder of MotoCzysz. The fact that electric motorcycle racing has been elevated to an official class within the TT shows the commitment of the Isle of Man Government in providing the low emission pioneers with a world stage to demonstrate their solutions. This may end up being one of the purest prototype classes left in racing.

For 2010, MotoCzysz have updated its E1pc motorcycle with a new electric motor controller system the company says it expects to be the highest torque/density electric motor in the industry. At the TT Zero, MotoCzysz will try to claim the 10,000 pound (US$15,500) bounty for being the first to average 100 mph with a clean emission race bike on the Isle of Mans mountain course.

The MotoCzysz E1pc gets an updated electric motor controller system for 2010.

We are delighted to have a team of the credibility and prestige of MotoCzysz confirming their participation, says Martyn Quayle, minister of Tourism and Leisure for the Isle of Man government. They are one of the true pioneers of motorcycle racing and Im sure will arrive on the Island as a very competitive team.

What remains to be seen is whether MotoCzysz will enter its electric motorcycle in either the FIMs ePower or the TTXGP series. The 2010 TT Zero is scheduled for June 9, with qualifying June 5 and 7, creating a conflict with the second race of the TTXGPs North American Championship, June 3-6 at Road America in Ekhart Lake, Wis. That does not rule out the possibility however, of MotoCzysz competing in the other three rounds in its home market.
