Leon Haslam had a comfortable win in the end, after early leader Carlos Checa went out with a technical problem, and Max Biaggi could not make up the ground to get back into winning contention. James Toseland's return to WSB in 2010 was marked by his first podium on his Sterilgarda Yamaha four, while BMW Motorrad Motorsport earned a great fourth place with Troy Corser, the highest ever SBK place for the team since entering WSBK last year. Noriyuki Haga ( Ducati Xerox) fought through to fifth, but could not pass Corser in the final laps.

The Honda EV-neo electric scooter is designed to be a delivery vehicle for businesses. The EV-neo uses a brushless electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery produced by Toshiba. A prototype of the EV-neo was first introduced in prototype form at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, under the name EVE-neo.

Italian publication Motociclismo reports Paolo Berlusconi, who also owns Garelli Motorcycles, has submitted a bid worth 2.9 million euro (US$3.9M) for Moto Morini which declared bankruptcy in September 2009. A consortium of businessmen led by a German Moto Morini dealer has also reportedly entered.

Set to take place April 16 ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans World Endurance Championship race in Sarthe, France, the official entry list has six entries and five teams. With six entries, the e-Power series will have fewer participants than the rival TTXGP and possibly also the Isle of Mans TT Zero.

According to the New York Post, the show will now be known as American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior and will premiere in August. The show will feature two competing bike shops, Paul Teutul Sr. and the original Orange County Choppers as well as Juniors new company, Paul Jr. Designs.

The report analyzed motorcycle thefts from 2006 to 2009 and the number of thefts decreased each year. The 13% decline however marked the biggest drop in thefts during the period of study.

The two past and present Grand Prix racers will ride a lap of the course before the Dainese-sponsored Senior TT race on June 11. Dainese was named the official safety partner for the Isle of Man TT in 2008 and the event has played a role in the development of the D-Air airbag system.

The founder of Buell Motorcycles and Erik Buell Racing is following his other passion, music, with a 10-song album titled Anthem. The Thunderbolts consist of drummer Dave Stone, guitarist Ed Laben and bass player Greg Pekley.  Buell plays guitar and wrote most of the songs.

The new purse is worth $15,250 per American Superbike race, matching the purse structure for the Daytona Sportbike class. The new purse structure is a dramatic increase from $6,500 originally tabled for 2010 American Superbike races.

The Piaggio MP3 300 will replace the 250 as the mid-sized version in the MP3 lineup, slotted between the 125, 400 and 500 models. Its not clear however when the MP3 300 will be available in North America where the 250 was the smallest model offered.

The two companies will share technology and co-develop a new motorcycle engine mounting system. The first product from the new alliance will be the C3 X132 Hellcat, with deliveries set to begin Oct. 31 at Confederate Motors new facilities in New Orleans.

The 2011 Ducati Monster 796 will be slotted into the lineup between the 696 and 1100 models, both of which will still be produced. The new Monster is powered by an air-cooled Desmodue 796 engine, which first debuted in the Hypermotard 796 in late 2009.

Ash from the April 14 volcanic eruption at Eyjafjalla Glacier in southern Iceland has halted air traffic over Europe where most MotoGP teams are based. As a result, the Grand Prix Bureau has decided to postpone the Grand Prix of Japan, originally scheduled for April 23-25.

This year's AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL action could not have been more exciting and competitive.  With two winners in three races and one more rider who could have, or should have, won a race or two himself, today's first of two weekend AMA Pro Daytona SportBike races was another chapter in what has been a series of races that just keep on delivering one wild and crazy race after another!

Dungey led Villopoto by 12 points heading into St. Louis, but unlike last seasons tilt between James Stewart and Chad Reed, the two frontrunners were rarely involved in head-to-head battles through the opening 13 rounds. That changed in St. Louis.

Worldwide sales were down 18.2% over the quarter compared to the same period in 2009, but that marked an improvement over the previous two quarters that each saw a decline of over 20%. Domestic sales were down 24.3% while international retail sales were down only 2.8% compared to double-digit decreases in preceding quarters. Harley-Davidson motorcycle sales were up in Europe and Canada but down in Asia and Latin America.

Air traffic over Europe was brought to a halt by volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland. Airports across Europe re-opened April 20 to face a backlog of flights. The delay forced the postponement of the April 23-25 MotoGP round in Motegi, Japan, but the WSBK round in the Netherlands will be held as scheduled over the same dates.

British production company CinemaNX has begun principal photography for the documentary, titled TT3D". The film will follow riders and teams as they prepare for the legendary road race. Footage will be filmed on the Isle of Man as well as in Ireland, England and Los Angeles.

The entry marks the return of Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing to AMA Pro Road Racing competition since the closing of Buell.

A former WSBK and British Superbike Champion, Hodgson signed on to race for the Yamaha Motorpoint team in the British series. At the season opener at Brands Hatch, however, Hodgson crashed out of the warm-up session before the race, damaging a previously-injured shoulder. After several weeks of tests and visits to specialists, Hodgson has decided to call it a career.

Preliminary data from the report projects up to 4,762 motorcycle fatalities in 2009, down from 5,290 in 2008 across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The data includes final totals from some states and estimates based on data from a portion of the year.

Air traffic restrictions caused by volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland forced the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Japan, originally scheduled for April 23-25. Approximately 600 crates carrying 270 tons from various teams and organizations, including over 100 motorcycles, were already shipped to Japan following the Grand Prix of Qatar.

The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider needed at least a sixth place finish to mathematically clinch the title with two more rounds remaining, but with his only challenger, Kawasaki s Ryan Villopoto, out with a broken leg, it was merely a formality.

Dealers sold 152,431 units in the first quarter of 2010, down from the 197,249 units sold over the same period in 2009. The decrease, however, was smaller than the 32% drop from the first quarters of 2008 to 2009, as well as the 37% decrease in all of 2009.

The Sonoma, Calif., circuit hosts the electric racing series first North American Championship race during an AMA Pro Racing round May 14-16.

Paint operations at both facilities were shut down April 21 after a paint supplier notified Harley-Davidson that its product may contain benzene, a cancer-causing chemical. Full production was halted a day later as the supply of painted parts grew lower.

 The 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750 gets a new narrower saddle and has a lower seat height at 31.5 inches, down from the 31.9 inches found on the 2009 model. The rider geometry has also been modified with the footpegs moved backward and the handlebar moved forward for a more aggressive riding position. The rear wheel is also a half inch thinner at 5.5 inches while it uses the same 180/55 tire, a change Aprilia says improves handling and increases turn speed. Visually, the 2010 Shiver gets a new fairing and wave brake discs.

The Japanese manufacturer sold 9.6 million motorcycles and scooters during the fiscal year, down from the 10.1 million shipped in the previous year. Honda reported decreased sales in North America but overall sales were buoyed by gains in Asia where Hondas smaller vehicles are popular.

The Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS Police motorcycle has a number of features designed to meet the needs of law enforcement agencies. Kawasaki gave the police bike a tighter turning radius and equipped each unit with an adjustable speedometer, a second wiring harness with 12 fused circuits and a separate battery dedicated to electronic add-ons.

The entry list includes 12 teams featuring a mix of purpose-built electric motorcycles and conventional motorcycles converted to use an electric motor. Should all 12 teams compete in the series debut at Infineon Raceway, the starting grid would be more than double the opening race of the FIMs competing ePower series.

Capirossi and his MotoGP bike will be part of the festivities as Suzuki celebrates 50 years of international racing.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, as promoted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The US Armed Forces use this annual opportunity to augment the motorcycle safety training of its personnel, at various locations around the world. Fort Knox has between 700 and 800 registered motorcyclists at any time, who are required to follow more stringent rules than those governing the state of Kentucky, such as wearing a helmet and attending an Army-approved Motorcycle Safety Course. At Fort Knoxs 2010 celebration of safe riding on two wheels, Mike Fitzgerald and Matthew Hickson carried the Öhlins USA flag into battle against unnecessary riding risks, taking charge of setting up the personal motorcycles of attending personnel.

The Rudolph, Wis., trike manufacturer, will use the 117 cubic-inch (1,917cc) X-Wedge engine in all its models. The 56.25 degree V-Twin engine meets Environmental Protection Agency rules, making it legal in 49 states. SS Trike does not specify whether it is using the CARB-compliant version of the X-Wedge which would make it legal in California. According to SS Trike, the new engine offers more power than the previous power plant.

The five Yamaha Super Ténéré XT1200Z motorcycles will operate in rural areas in Zambias Eastern province, helping to provide efficient detection and diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other illnesses. Yamaha will also provide a support package of replacement parts to ensure at least three years of operation.

Chandler passed away May 4 while McFarlane succumbed to head injuries in a crash during a practice lap before a race in Australia May 2.

Zero Agni, a joint effort between Zero Motorcycles and 2009 Isle of Man TTXGP winning Agni Motors, is one of 12 teams competing in the TTXGPs inaugural North American Championship. While Zero Agni was announced as one of the competing teams earlier in the week, it was not listed among the others on TTXGPs website until today, with Higbee listed as the teams rider. Zero Motorcycles public relations agency has confirmed with Motorcycle.com that Higbee will race for Zero Agni.

The Aprilia RSV4 Biaggi Replica is loaded with upgrades over the production street bike, enough so that Aprilia says the replica meets FIM regulations and can be used as an entry-level WSBK race machine. With an impeccable sense of timing, Biaggi demonstrated the RSV4s potential by winning both races of the Monza round.

Stewart designed the graphics and raced with it at the Anaheim II round, where the 2009 AMA Supercross Champion finished third despite a broken wrist. The Anaheim II round turned out to be Stewarts final race of the 2010 season.

Biaggi started in pole position for the first time in his WSBK career, setting the all-time fastest top speed in WSBK history in the process with a record 205.2 mph. Biaggi carried that momentum into the two races to score two victories for Aprilia Alitalia in front of a supportive Italian crowd of 115,000.
