MotoGP: 2010 Qatar Test Results

The Ducati Marlboro rider recorded a time of 1:55.353 on the second day of testing under the lights at the Losail International Circuit. Stoners time was a hair under Valentino Rossis best time, 1:55.402, set in the first night of testing. Aragon Named MotoGP Backup Until 2015

Racing before a crowd of 38,321 at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., Villopoto led every lap for the win, but a second place finish by Dungey cut the lead by only three points. Villopoto leads all riders with six wins in 12 races but Dungeys consistency (hes missed the podium only three times, and has finished no lower than sixth) gives him a 261-240 lead.

WSBK: 2010 Portimao Results

Aprilia Alitalias Biaggi jumped out to the lead in Race One with Suzuki Alstares Haslam close behind. The two riders traded the lead through the race, both well ahead of the pack. Biaggi gained the advantage on lap 17 of the 22 lap race and held off several final-lap challenges to win by 0.200 seconds.

Leon Haslam had a comfortable win in the end, after early leader Carlos Checa went out with a technical problem, and Max Biaggi could not make up the ground to get back into winning contention. James Toseland's return to WSB in 2010 was marked by his first podium on his Sterilgarda Yamaha four, while BMW Motorrad Motorsport earned a great fourth place with Troy Corser, the highest ever SBK place for the team since entering WSBK last year. Volcano Ash Won't Delay WSBK Assen Round

Air traffic over Europe was brought to a halt by volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland. Airports across Europe re-opened April 20 to face a backlog of flights. The delay forced the postponement of the April 23-25 MotoGP round in Motegi, Japan, but the WSBK round in the Netherlands will be held as scheduled over the same dates.

Neil Hodgson Retires From Racing

A former WSBK and British Superbike Champion, Hodgson signed on to race for the Yamaha Motorpoint team in the British series. At the season opener at Brands Hatch, however, Hodgson crashed out of the warm-up session before the race, damaging a previously-injured shoulder. After several weeks of tests and visits to specialists, Hodgson has decided to call it a career.

Aprilia Shiver 750 Updated for 2010

 The 2010 Aprilia Shiver 750 gets a new narrower saddle and has a lower seat height at 31.5 inches, down from the 31.9 inches found on the 2009 model. The rider geometry has also been modified with the footpegs moved backward and the handlebar moved forward for a more aggressive riding position. The rear wheel is also a half inch thinner at 5.5 inches while it uses the same 180/55 tire, a change Aprilia says improves handling and increases turn speed. Visually, the 2010 Shiver gets a new fairing and wave brake discs.
