Harley-Davidson announced a new 2011 Sportster model, highlighting its new H-D1 factory customization program.

Based on the Sportster 1200 platform, the 2011 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom adds a 130/90B 16 front tire and chromed five-spoke cast aluminum wheels. The thicker tire is accompanied by wider fork spacing and re-tuned front suspension.

Other features include pull-back handlebars and a smaller, reshaped LED taillight. The coil-over rear shocks are pre-load adjustable and the standard two-up seat sits at a height of 26.6 inches. Powering the 1200 Custom is the fuel injected 1200cc Evolution V-Twin engine fueled by a 4.5-gallon tank.

But if the 1200 Custom isnít custom enough, Harley-Davidson offers its new H-D1 Factory Customization program. Launching Feb. 4, the H-D1 Factory Customization program lets customers pick from a number of options to be installed at the factory. Customers can pick from different wheels, seats, handlebars, paints and engine finishes.

An online customization tool on Harley-Davidson.com will let buyers select the accessories they want. Customers can then bring a print out of their choices to a Harley-Davidson dealer to place their orders. Dealers will provide customers with an estimate on when their customized motorcycle will be ready, with a turnaround time of as little as four weeks, according to Harley-Davidson.

The H-D1 program will be available for all Harley-Davidson models except for the CVO line. Options may vary depending on the model, while some combinations, such as mini-ape handlebars and mid-mount foot controls will not be available.
