It’s World Cup time and if you’re a fan of soccer (or “football” for the truly dedicated), your attention is no doubt focused on Brazil right now. Or at least it was, if your favorite country has already been eliminated (sorry, Spain). For the footy fans among our readers, this edition of the Weekend Awesome combines two of your loves: soccer and motorcycles.

In recognition of Father’s Day, this edition of the Weekend Awesome features a young French Trials rider training with his father. Hugo Dufrese, who was nine or 10 when this video was uploaded, is a member of Team Ossa France, currently competing in the Juvenile A class against older kids.

For this Memorial Day edition of the Weekend Awesome, we bring you WWII-era newsreel footage of U.S. Army motorcycle dispatch riders completing a training test. Riders were trained to handle different terrain to perform their vital role in keeping the lines of communications open during the war.

This week’s video is of a rider’s close call with a rearing horse. The rider made a quick last-moment adjustment to dodge out of the way, averting what would have been a terrible accident. She then made another good move to avoid losing control after veering slightly off the paved surface.

To mark Easter, this edition of the Weekend Awesome presents the time the California Highway Patrol pulled over the Easter Bunny after he was spotted riding a Ural.

First things first, lets dispense with the usual warning of “DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME”. And at the very least, wear proper safety gear including a helmet when you ride. So no baseball cap and bare chests for any of you, comprendes?

April Fool’s Day has come and gone, and there were some really good gags pulled this year. So in the spirit of “All Fools’ Day”, this edition of the Weekend Awesome presents a prank involving a motorcycle stunter, some men in ski masks and a lot of pink balloons.

Here’s to all the MO readers/viewers who’ve ever accused us of pandering to a particular OEM because of advertising dollars. Please, we’re moto-journalists, not politicians.
