I love the FZ6
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 12, 2012The FZ6 is a great starter bike. I'm 5'7" and can touch the ground and maneuver the bike perfectly fine. The power is great. It's alot, but not too much to handle. Much better than something like a Ninja 250 or a SV650. All around great bike and very comfortable too. Only thing i don't like is the ... running headlight located on one side and high beam on the other. A quick mod will fix that. You won't be disapointed.

Great beginner and advanced bike
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 08, 2011At 47 I decided I'd better get after it if I was going to learn to ride and enjoy a motorcycle. Read lots of books, looked at lots of bikes. I tried to make an intelligent choice because I was going cross country in 12 months and would be commuting all year. Wanted something lite, comfortable, good ... gas mileage, big gas tank, and would not be too little after 6 months. Decided on the FZ-6. took my ABATE MSF beginner course and completed it on a Sunday and picked up the FZ-6 Monday. It's a beginner bike at 4000 rpm and an advanced bike over 8000 rpms. I put a tall Cal-Sci windshield, a soft coretech tank bag and a set of first gear soft luggage on it, and 12 months later rode from Indiana through the southwest and up into Montana across the beartooth pass/hwy. I got thrown around by passing trucks on the hwy, so I took the backroads and that handled that. It will putt around town at 20 mph quiet as a mouse, or howl down out of Shawnee natl. forest at 140 mph. Great bike. Dump the stock tires after 4000 miles and pick up the Michelin Pilot road 2's and a K&N air filter. Great choice beginner or advanced and fairly comfortable with upright ergos (and getting off every 3 hours on long trips) and about 40 mpg's combined. Not much on the resale, but cheap on the insurance. Excellent choice of a first bike if you can layoff the throttle.

great bike, great bang for your buck
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 16, 2009I LOVE my FZ6!!! With a bad lower back, this bike doesn't bother it at all and I have nearly 100 hp to play with on the twisty roads. Commuting I get nearly 50 mpg. Worst I've gotten is around 44 mpg after a really hard day of riding. Lots of power, and comfort to boot!
