Yamaha R6 as a first bike
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 23, 2015New riders.. with the hopes of you becoming long time riders, spending smart, buying more bikes, and having a lifetime of fun, please read further. I am loving my R6. It has captured my heart like a woman. She tells me when I am not in perfect unison with her. When I get on the R6 I relax my arms ... and pinch my knees. She is most unstable just turning a simple corner at 15 MPH. I hope you know what I'm talking about. If not, keep reading. I cringe at people who suggest a sport bike as a first ride. The deal is that you can get yourself into real trouble so quickly with a quick and heavy sport bike. You will have incredible acceleration but you will need to learn how to HANDLE IT when things arise, like an unanticipated corner or bad driver, or some slippery debris on the road. I have a dual purpose which I rode for a long time before getting my R6. With that bike I learned how to operate just with counter steering, no hip action. Buy the book, "Twist of the wrist" http://www.amazon.com/Twist-Wrist-Motorcycle-Roadracers-Handbook/dp/0965045013 and read it, ride a basic bike even for a couple of months and become a student of the art. Make yourself high performance before putting yourself on an amazing bike. When you shop for the R6, buy new or get one that has low miles from a meticulous owner. That bike is safer and all fun, with only routine maintenance.
And get full leathers, used if needed, as I did. Get great road boots and proper gloves, I got mine new and the sales guy really took care of me. Get a helmet which does not crop your upper vision when you drop into the slipstream. Ask about that feature at the shop so you don't wind up buying two helmets like I did, by not asking. Now go have a great ride. PS Always shoot your photos with the camera on the ground.

love the R6
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 05, 2011through out the course of 10 years of riding, the R6 has been the best through handling, comfort, and performance. so far everyone has said that it lacks low end power, i admit it does but can be fixed by a power commander or sprocket set. As for the seat i like the way its angled. helps me duck ... more me being a tall person. this bike was meant for racing. so far nothing has yet to go all screwy with me so maintenence wise its pretty good.

By (I am an Owner) on Jan 11, 2009I bought my r6 in October of 2007 and fell in love right away. After looking at all of my options,I found the r6 to be the best all around...looks,performance,comfort.I have ridden this bike to Las Vegas several times without ANY type of problems.I currently have 5,035 miles on it,most of those in ... about a 3 or 4 month period last year. The only mods I've added are the fender eliminator kit, and bullet turn signals front and rear.

2007 Yamaha R6
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 04, 2008The R6 is the first bike I've had the pleasure of riding. I originally picked the R6 over it's competitors because of how sexy the bike looks. Not only does it look good, the ride is incrediable. I haven't even began to push it to the limits because I'm a novice rider, but I fall in love with her ... every time I ride. Thanks for yamaha.

07 YZF R6
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 03, 2008I bought my bike in April and am still riding it. I have 5200 miles on it from going to work, school, and for fun. The bike is a blast. Looks beautiful and is fun. It is meant for the track though. Not the most comfortable ride but it doesn't matter when your out there on the road. The only problem ... I had was the EXUP is messed up and in the shop for a week. Covered under warranty. I will have this bike till it poops out.

2007 Blue R6
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 29, 2008I've got about 5000 miles on my bike between commuting to work and riding for fun. I love it. I've ridden other bikes and by far this one has the best feel to it. I've made several mods as you can see in the pics. I don't have the problem a few others have had with the seat. I ride for hours without ... discomfort. As far as the lack of low end, it didn't bother me at all. A power commander did fix this though. My next bike will be the 2010 R6, when they change the design. I would never get rid of this one though.
To sum it up....buy this bike. 09,08,07...it doesn't matter. R6 is the bike to have.

07 Blue R6
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 24, 2008I love this bike. I have a total of 2000 miles split between trackdays, touring and commuting to work. She lags a bit in the midrange but wails on the topend.

2007 Yamaha R6
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 16, 2008The 2007 Yamaha R6 is overall a great bike. However, as many already mentioned its lacks low and mid range power. This bike is built for the track. The comfort is one of those thing I don't like about the bike. The seat is wide so it pushes your legs out wide when you you come to a stop. It's especially ... uncomfortable in stop and go traffic. The clutch its not as smooth as the Honda CBR or the Kawasaki 600. As times shifting can be noisy.
