Great little S40

I've had this bike for about two weeks and almost 200 miles. It feels very solid and dependable. It is a very fun bike with plenty of power. I've only had it up to 60 so far as it is still being broken in. I had @ 2007 Vulcan 500 and this bike is much more fun due to it being lighter and easier t...o handle but I don't do any intersate riding for which the heavier Vulcan would probably be better. I'm 5'9 and 190. I got the red and white one and I get a lot of compliments on it's good looks. This thing will turn very easily and has good balance. It is very fast taking off and I haven't even used full throttle yet coming up through the gears yet. I got a windshield from Suzuki with the distinctive Boulevard logo on it which I would recomend. Yes the single banger has the little occasional backfire but with the stock pipes it's not very loud and I kind of like it actually as it's distinct to this bike. It is very easy to find the gears when shifting and the clutch travel is short and easy. I had cramping in my hand on the Vulcan due to the longer travel and tighter pull. I like the belt drive aspect as it's quieter and you don't have to worry about oiling it. Suzuki includes a gauge to measure the belt tension. I will probably opt for the gel seat at some point but the stock seat isn't bad at all. The stock exhaust is very quiet but if you want it loud I'm sure you can find other exhausts on you tube or the internet. S40 update

Got 700 miles on it now and my opinion on anything hasn't changed hardly any except it will go well over 80 if you want. At 80 it rode just fine but that's about 20 to 25 mph faster than I like to cruise. I rode almost a whole tank out of it the other day and realized that the seat is just fine and... I won't be needing a gel seat like I hear other people talk about. Read Full Review

My first bike....

I took the safety course in the summer, and had to have a bike right away. I had never so much as touched the handlebars before the course. I found this 07 S40 in the used section of a local bike shop, and it was instant love. I've had it up to 75 mph, and haven't had a bit of vibration. It does bac...kfire quite a bit, but that's what Bullys do. It handles extremely easily and has plenty of power. My bff who has ridden for decades tried it and was pleasantly surprised. BTW, I'm a woman.

never too late

At 67 years old, getting ready to retire, and looking for a no-nonsense bike to get back in the riding game...this was my choice. simple and straightforward- good looks- handles like a dream- easy on gas- climbs hills like a homesick angel- affordable-

best for beginners

i bought this bike to toy around last summer. its nimble but has a lot of "get up n go" power to get out of sticky situations. it handles extremely well. my girlfriend found it pretty fun to ride around too. so i would say it is ideal for beginners who are above 5 7". it gets a bit of... vibration at 70...not so ideal for interstate monkeying. and it kicks when u turn it off. octane 89 should solve the problem for the most part. overall...an awesome bike you can begin ure riding life on. wont let you down. oh..and do get a black!
