Front rim Size
By (I am an Owner) on May 13, 2018I'm no expert, but I need to replace the front rim. Of course, I know the tire size and that I need dual disc, but can anyone tell me what rim size other than 16, I need to be looking for. A lot of sites are trying to tell me I need a 21. I'm not that stupid.

Love the Trike - Hate the Heat!
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 23, 2011I have been riding Harley's for many years. My first was a Heritage Classic. I have also owned a Honda Trike. Being a true Harley girl I sold the Honda and bought my Tri Glide. I love the luxury that the Ultra offers, but very disappointed with the extreme heat on the right side.
I ... have sought out help from a few local Harley dealerships, after market dealers and the Harley factory. With no resolution, the best answer I seem to get is, "That's just riding a Harley, they are powerful machines that produces a lot of heat." My response is SERIOUSLY GUYS, get real. My Honda never had this issue! What I paid for this machine, I should be able to enjoy it without the scorching heat on my skin though leather pants and full leg leather boots!

Great bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 17, 2011I've written other bikes but this is my first HD. The wife and I have put over 10,000 miles in less than a year and have had no complaints. The only mis-information is the fuel milage but it is a heavy bike. When you load down for a trip at least you get to stop every 120 miles or so and catch a ... break. As for service's, where I get mine done the bike has never been any longer than two days. We put sheepskin seat covers on and this helps make for a better ride summer or winter. We are very happy with our Trike and if we had to because of mileage we would get another one.

Mileage
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 10, 2010While I am basically very disappointed with the mileage on my trike, I have a suggestion. Do not exceed 68 MPH. This was the magic spot on my 2001 Ultra and seems to hold true on the trike as well. It probably has something to do with flat plate drag but in any case, you'll find this will give a ... noticable increase in mileage.

I must be one of the lucky ones
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 24, 2010I love my Tri-Glide Ultra. I only have 4000 miles on my Trike but have not expierenced any heat issues or equipment failures at all. The reverse breaker did trip once when I backed up with the parking break engaged. The gas milage has not been as advertised, but gas milage is not why I own a Tri-Glide. ... I have been averageing 27 mpg, I really believe due to the way I ride. I found that sixth gear is best above 60 miles per hour. I have great acceleration and plenty of power, though you do feel more of the road then with a wheeler. And as far as comfort, my wife read a book on the back, during one of our trips from Virginia to New Jersey. I consider myself very lucky to own such a fine piece of American manufactured machinery.

Excellent Engineering
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 29, 2010Traded in my Ultra classic on the 2010 trike and at first wasn't thrill. 6 gear seemed worthless with the stock pipes, but with a simple slip on change out it came alive. Eventually I would like to do a for stage kit, but most certainly made large difference. Beyond that the trike is a dream handles ... turns far better than I expected and has plenty of power. Willie G out did himself with this one!

4500 miles later
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 04, 2010We have had the tri-glide since march ....... Still like it a lot, easy ride and very comfortable. Now, lets talk the latest trip; made it from N. Texas to Fargo, ND in two days. We pulled In to Fargo on Monday night and Tuesday morning the trike was in the local HD shop in Fargo "very good folks" ... highly recommend the dealership if you are eve in the area and need some help.
Service advisor was on the phone with HD within 15 minutes .... HD authorized the replacement of the head pipe and clutch cable (got so hot the cable shroud at the transmission melted and was causing transmission fluid to leak) HD shop had to hot shot the parts in for replacement. HIGHLY recommend that shops across the country stock these head pipes. Seems the 3 wheelers aren't the only ones with the problem....two wheelers are also (catalytic converter)
Harley needs to come up with a recall on the things to get us all up and down the road safely and soon, either that or spend a butt load of money on labor and parts replacing head pipes and cables and who knows what else from these heat problems. We are only at 4500 miles right now.

H.D. stands for Hundreds of Dollars
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 27, 2010Ihave owned afew bikes in my life. I have had swine flu since the mid 70's. Before that it was saki suckers. I just bought a 2010 tri glide ultra. so far i have changed mufflers not HD's. Sounds good nice throaty sound. power is better. The motor reads 103 cubic inches. HD should place warning sticker ... on the tank that reads 6 gallons get you 103 feet. Listen I bought this bike because I love my wife it gives great twoup rides. There is another reason its a Harley Davidson. I like the though of I mean the way kids and old folks wave or comment on this beautiful bike it just makes me ahappy ol goat (53 years old). Money is'nt everything. If your going buy a tri glide you will need it. Harley's are not perfect because they are not made by GOD but imperfect man.

Tri Glide great, but have some issues
By (I am an Owner) on May 31, 2010The Tri Glide is beautiful and fun to ride, but I am experiencing some issues. The two worst concerns are sufficient power to keep up with traffic, both in fifth and sixth gear. I seem to notice it the worst in windy weather going between 55 and 65 mph. The other concern is the heat coming up from ... the right side. It gets so hot it is very uncomfortable to the point of a burning feeling. I haven't kept close track of gas mileage as I know it takes about 5,000 miles to break in and I am around 1300. The trunk has leaked and keeping track of anymore leaks. The reverse will kick out the breaker if you have the parking brake on. No problem to fix, reset breaker. Just remember to release brake and then put it in reverse. I love the trike, just hoping can work out the kinks!

Just went over 1000 miles on my trike.
By (I am an Owner) on May 31, 2010I just went over 1000 miles on my trike. I performed my own servicing with no problems.
The only problem I have with the trike is the excessive heat radiated from the exhaust on the right side of motor when riding. My right leg gets hot! My wife also rides with me and her leg gets hot also ... from the exhaust heat. Any suggestions from anyone would be nice. Harley Davison has no fix.
Also would be nice to have the 110 cubic inch motor also.
Happy riding...Mark

Sixth gear is worthless, gas mileage sucks
By (I am an Owner) on May 30, 2010We just finished a 400+ day on our new trike. We are talking basically flat Texas coast. Sixth gear was worthless and trying to keep the cruise sit while in sixth was impossible. Gas mileage was never better than about 22. At 100 miles the low fuel light came on. I am talking to the dealer on ... Monday. This is my fourth Harley but I couldn't recommend the trike.

Love the look, hate the lack of power
By (I am an Owner) on May 29, 201010 months and 8000 miles ago seems like a life time. first there was a power issue returned to the dealer after 300 miles and the dealer agreed and in the next 6 weeks
1) top end
2) replace engine
3) replace ECM
4) replace Exhaust
5) replace throttle body
6) ... finally the Air cleaner was replaced with a heavy breather and I had more power Try to find a Dyno for a trike!!
This is in the first 8 weeks!!
Next week I am changing the cams to 255,at a cost of $1200 tired of 6th gear being a dog H-D should have done this right so we don't have to do this kind of repairs

Just back from a trip
By (I am an Owner) on May 24, 2010My wife and I just put 3000 miles on our new 2010 trike. We kept track of our mpg on the way home-some 1200 miles. We averaged 33 miles per gallon. We had a high of 39 and a low of 23. It depended on the fuel-we always put in 91 or better octane. We visited a dealer in Beaumont, Texas on the ... way and they tipped us off to an additive (Harley endorsed) that really helped out. The right side heat was almost unbearable in a traffic jam but we got through it. All in all-the bike was great-comfortable and lots of space. We were disappointed in the gas mileage but I'm forced to a three wheeler with a leg issue so it's better than not riding at all.

I could not be happier with my trike
By (I am an Owner) on May 18, 2010I have about 400 miles on my 2010 trike. Like others, I have been disappointed in the MPG. I'm hoping that will get better as the trike breaks-in more. The reverse has tripped but was a very easy fix. It is a very comfortable ride. Rides totally different from a two wheeler so take a class. ... Best thing I did and learned a lot. I can't wait to retire and spend more time on the road.

getting there is more costly for sure
By (I am an Owner) on May 01, 2010Picked mine out after the first test drive on Friday. Have 198 miles on it today. Nice ride and comfy for sure. Problems so far....reverse has already tripped the breaker once for some unknown reason and a simple two minute fixed that. Pulled RT side cover off and reset the breaker..The bike does ... not get the stated MPG. I had to refuel mine after 130 miles...definately not up to the standards advertised by Harley...

Better than expected!
By (I am an Owner) on May 01, 2010This is only our second Harley Davidson, so I don't profess to be an expert on the machine. I've owned numerous 750cc Japanese models and a 1 liter German bike over the years and like my Harley(s) the best.
My wife can't ride, on my 2004 Dyna, for 20 miles without suffering a lot of pain due ... to arthritis, etc. This is even after a seat change, wide backrest and passenger floorboards. Because of this, we opted to spring for the Tri Glide.
The Tri Glide is exceptionally comfortable for both of us. There appears to be plenty of back support for me and she was only tired, not sore, after a 200 mile trip a couple weeks ago.
Fuel mileage has averaged from around 28 mpg city/highway to 38 mpg highway. I don't really expect to see the mid 40's at this point.
Reverse has been totally trouble free and the trike has not suffered from any of the trunk leaking problems of the 2009 models.
The heat from the catalytic converter does concern me as it does get really hot. Our riding gear has minimized most of that issue, but I have considered a head pipe replacement from time to time.
Power output does seem to be rather wimpy for an engine 15 cubic inches larger than on my Dyna. I just need to adapt my highway driving technique a bit. As for 6th gear, the wife and I have taken some of the steepest hills in the area with the trike on cruise with no need to downshift, so far. You won't be passing anyone on those hills, however, while in 6th gear.
Overall, we're still extremely happy with our decision to make this major purchase.
