Next salvo of new bikes launches this week in Florida

The last quarter of each year gives us a glimpse into the future as motorcycle manufacturers begin to display the latest machines we’ll see in showrooms during the upcoming year. Last month saw the introduction of a new engine platform from Harley-Davidson, plus the unveiling of more than 20 new or revised bikes at the biennial Intermot moto show in Germany.

Now it’s America’s turn. Already this week we’ve seen a new power bagger from BMW in the K1600B debuting in L.A., but the focus next shifts to the East Coast and the AIMExpo in Orlando, Florida. AIME continues to grow each year since its inaugural event in 2013.

The 2016 AIMExpo begins with two full media days Oct. 13-14 before opening to the public on the weekend. As with the previous two years, we’ve got an editor and a videographer on the scene to bring you all the news from the show as it happens in words, photos and videos. Yamaha may steal the headlines with the debut of what’s almost certainly a new YZF-R6 Thursday morning. Stay tuned!

The choices offered by OEM's are staggering. There's been unbelievable, almost desperate niche cramming lately. It makes me wonder if overall sales aren't too good or are on the decline. Ten years ago you would have been laughed at for suggesting a BMW bagger, and yet, here it is.

    Just read about the 2017 Yamaha FZ-09 ("FZ-09 2.0). Quite a package for $8,999!
