2014 Honda CB1100 and CB1100 Deluxe Announced
The Honda CB1100 has only been available in the U.S. for a year now, but it’s already getting an update as well as a Deluxe variant for 2014. Honda’s retro-styled roadster carries on the lineage of the CB750 Four, with a number of important changes.
The biggest change is the six-speed transmission which replaces the 2013 model’s five-speed gearbox. The extra gear should improve fuel economy, reducing the engine speed required for highway cruising. Also new is the instrument cluster which now includes a gear position indicator, fuel economy display and trip computer.
The CB1100 Deluxe adds anti-lock brakes, ribbed seat, restyled side covers and a larger 4.6-gallon fuel tank compared to the regular CB1100’s 3.9-gallon tank. The most notable difference between the two models is the second exhaust on the left side, providing a more symmetric appearance. In Europe, the Deluxe model is known as the CB1100EX and is equipped with wire-spoked wheels but here in the U.S., we’ll have to settle for a Deluxe with cast aluminum ten-spoke wheels.
Both the CB1100 and CB1100 Deluxe are equipped with 41mm forks and dual rear shocks (both spring preload-adjustable), and dual front disc brakes with four-piston calipers. Honda claims the CB1100 has a curb weight of 540 pounds while the CB1100 Deluxe claims a heftier 570.9 pounds.
Honda says the CB1100 and CB1100 Deluxe should arrive in American showrooms in March. The 2014 CB1100 will be offered in Black with a $10,399 price tag. The Deluxe model will be available in Candy Red for $11,499.
