Yamaha MT-07
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 26, 2015I'm from Europe but I guess the bike will be about identical so...
I'm a relatively new rider (over a year now) and this is my second bike. When I was looking for a bike, I wanted a naked bike (like the styling), engine size about 600-800cc. The price was also an important factor.
After ... searching a bit, I came across the MT-07. I loved the way it looked, the engine size was up my alley, reviews were very good. I finally bought it and man, I love it! For more experienced riders, the suspension can be an issue but for a new rider like me, it's just very good. The engine is superb, from 2500-3000 rpm till redline (10 000) it just goes in every gear. Because it's a naked, wind buffetting can be an issue but I'm not bothered by it. Steering is great, the lower weight really inspires confidence when cornering and is a treat when driving on twisty roads. Great bike for commuting too, it's narrow so it will fit through most gaps in traffic when filtering. It's economical, I average about 5 liters (47mpg) with sporty driving. When breaking in, I easily avearged 4.5 liters (52mpg). Only issue I have with it is the exhaust, it has a nice grunt to it but isn't nearly loud enough. When other bikes are near, it's just impossible to hear your own exhaust. Since its low price though, an aftermarket exhaust can be easily purchased.
Even when driving it on a daily basis, it always manages to put a big smile on my face, wether in the twisties or when gunning it on a straight.
