Great everyday bike.
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 16, 2014I have had my 2008 Bandit for 16 months now and have not had any regrets about it's purchase. When bought it already had the Givi V35 sidebags, Two Brothers slip-on , Power Commander, SW Motech case guards with footpegs attached to them and a couple of other small things added. Since the purchase ... I have added a Tourtech topcase rack and adapted a Givi topcase, LED lights to the caseguards, a Corbin seat and a set of Hyperlights. The LED'S really have helped to be seen from the front and the Hyperlights brakelights from the rear. The engine is what makes this bike such a joy to ride. It has plenty of torque, so much that you really can just ease out on the clutch lever to get it rolling. It is not a high reving engine but it doesn't really need too. The stock seat will make your rearend burn after about an hour which is the reason for the upgrade. I have the Suzuki Gel Seat too but it is not much better than the standard seat. The ride can be a little choppy over rough pavement but I do have the preloaded almost maxed on the fork to help with the forkdive while braking hard. I weigh 170 lbs. I average around 42-44 mpg and I am not a pussycat with the throttle but I am not heavy handed either. I have just installed Michelin Power Road 4 tires at both ends and very happy with them so far. It had PR2's before the change. Like I said at the start it is a great everyday bike and have had a couple of 350 mile day rides too and enjoyed every mile. Overtaking traffic is just a twist of the throttle away with no downshifting required unless passing a whole string of cars. The handling is great if you remember it is not a race bike with all the latest suspension goodies on the crotch rockets offered today. The brakes are good too but don't forget this thing weighs around 600 lbs. with all the accessories added. I hope this helps anyone looking to purchase one of these bikes.
