Hit and Miss
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 06, 2012Recent bought an 8ball black full fairing that is LAMS approved. The things I have found with this bike are that i noticed right away was
- That the engine gave off an interesting cruiser type rumble that mostly comes from the engine (with a stock pipe). A scorpion or Jardine slip on rounds ... out the beefy clunky sound nicely.
- the abnormal amount of vibration from the engine through the whole bike. However you do get used to it.
Soome of the draw backs to this bike are
- The clutch is a bit clunky at times and partially engages. a bit dangerous around corners.
- The electronic monitoring in the bike are either poorly designed or cheaply made due to the occassionaly flicker of the FI Light which has been suspected to be from dust in the sensors. Usually you would be able to take it to the mechanic and the onboard computer stores the error code. No memory bank on the 2010 model.
-long rides are tough on the legs
Some great features of the bike
- in black it looks great
- fun sporty feel quick and nimble in the corners from high centre of gravity when the cluck isnt playing up
- the cheapest 650 LAMS on the market
- good fuel economy
The clutch issue is probably the only reason i wouldnt recommend it for a first LAMS bike.

Quality at cheap price
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 16, 2010Hyosung have done well with this model, due to the efi its performance up to approx 8000-8500 rpms is seamless. i have put an aftermarket (scorpion) exhaust on the bike which delivers a great note with weight saving on the stock pipe. As its hyosungs first attempt at an efi system they need to be ... commended on how good it actually is.
In hindsight i would have bought the tour model over the sport yet that is no critisim on the comfort of the R model.overall a decent learner legal bike that comes with 24month warranty, mine is coming up for its 5000k service and is still going well. Follow the break in procedures well and you should't have any dramas. (btw the new pipe did not require engine remapping and it sounds awesome)for a sub 10k bike this thing is awesome. Hyosung have emerged as (finally) a decent competitor to the jap bikes
