2005 Suzuki GS 500 F
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 18, 2010As my first bike, the 2005 Suzuki GS 500 F was perfect! It is well mannered, comfortable and easy to ride. The seating position is more "standard" than "sport" due to the slight rise in the handlebars and generally upright seating position. The brakes are good for normal driving conditions and ... the bike has decent pick up for a 500 cc. The reliability has been superb as one expects from the Japanese marque. Overall a handsome sporty yet comfortable feel, great commuter, and an excellent first bike to learn on.
Additionally, the bike handles very well in the rain, and is really easy to work on oneself. The center stand in particular makes oil changes and clearing the chain an easy and almost fun job.

By (I am an Owner) on Oct 08, 2009The GS 500 is an outstanding bike for what it is. This is not a high preformance sport bike, a cruiser nor tour bike. This is a "General Purpose" bike that commutes to and from wrok and is suffecently fun for the week ends. Dressed out it could be taken on long trips.
Riding position is ... not overly forward and foot pegs are slightly back. This places a little weight on the wrist shoulders and elbows but not painfully so. Seat height is comfortable for average size adults.
My personal mpg is in the upper 50's (58.8 mpg) on a recent tank but I drive like the old man I am.
Over all a great general use bike
