Akrapovič had been offering full exhaust systems for the MT-09 since 2016, but the bike’s recent upgrade to a 890cc engine called for a new product. Enter the new Akrapovič Racing Line full exhaust system, an upgrade that claims increased engine performance and a pure racing sound.

The Racing Line system includes a stainless steel header, catalytic converter, pre-muffler and a side-mounted silencer with a high-grade titanium outer sleeve. According to Akrapovič, the titanium exhaust claims a 2.0 hp increase in peak power and 1.0 lb-ft. increase in maximum torque compared to the stock exhaust. The performance difference is most notable at the high end of the rev range, but there’s also an improvement in torque at around the 5000-7000 rpm range.

Akrapovič also produces a carbon fiber version that claims a gain of 4.0 hp and 1.3 lb-ft. while weighing 5.3 pounds less than the stock exhaust, but it does not meet emission compliance for street or highway use.

Like all Akrapovič products, the Racing Line MT-09 system was crafted by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industrial designers, resulting in the signature conical hexagonal muffler design. Akrapovič also uses a motorcycle durability dyno that uses a robot to put each product through the exact same duty cycle and accumulated mileage tests.

You forgot to mention that this Racing Line system weighs 2lbs more than the OEM (I confirmed it directly with Akrapovič) and because of that massive end can the CoG is also higher than the OEM... Which means that you're paying $1700 for an exhaust that doesn' t increase power or torque in any meaningful way, that sounds identical to the OEM, that weighs more and has a worse CoG.

You say that you "are committed to finding, researching, and recommending the best products", which doesn't seem to be the case here, but then you further clarify that you "earn commissions from purchases you make using the retail links in our product reviews", which explains why you're pushing this exhaust...

Yes, I corrected myself. I thought that was pretty obvious.

A "Racing Line" that has a catalytic converter? Yeah that's not a racing line. I'll wait for the racing pipe that has headers and a muffler and nothing else.
