Another taste of the hottest adventure bike released in 2019

How much do we like the 2019 KTM 790 Adventure? How about enough to name it Motorcycle.com’s Motorcycle of the Year. That’s high praise. So, when we found video assets from the 790 Adventure’s introduction kicking around the MO Video Archives, we thought that time was right to share Ryan’s firsthand experience with those who don’t like to read. But first a little refresher.

2019 KTM 790 Adventure R First Ride Review

Based on the engine platform first introduced in the KTM 790 Duke, the 790 Adventure and its sibling, the 790 Adventure R, make the most of the compact parallel-Twin while placing it in an adventure-focused chassis. The compact 799cc Parallel Twin and low-slung gas tank give the bike excellent maneuverability, a tendency that is supported on the 790 Adventure R, which utilizes KTM’s fully-adjustable WP XPLOR suspension front and rear. As Ryan said in his MOTY text, “Whether tiptoeing through a rock garden or blasting through sand washes, the 790 Adventure R handles in a way no other adventure bike does, mostly thanks to keeping its CG as low as possible.”

So, without further ado, we present the Motorcycle.com 2019 KTM 790 Adventure Video First Ride.

While on his way to a planned life in academia, he applied for a job at a motorcycle magazine, thinking he’d get the opportunity to write some freelance articles. Instead, he was offered a full-time job in which he discovered he could actually get paid to ride other people’s motorcycles – and he’s never looked back. Over the 25 years he’s been in the motorcycle industry, Evans has written two books, 101 Sportbike Performance Projects and How to Modify Your Metric Cruiser, and has ridden just about every production motorcycle manufactured. Evans has a deep love of motorcycles and believes they are a force for good in the world.

Great video! I like that both models can run tubeless tires on those spoked rims - that's a nice touch. And the nice sized gas tank. And I like the standard model's lower seat height, but the non-adjustable suspension is a drag. No Goldilocks option for me, seemingly, which is too bad because I saw the 'S' in person today and really liked the way it looks.
