Ducati Returns to India
Ducati is back in business in India, with its new subsidiary officially beginning operations. The Italian manufacturer had been restructuring its operations in India since late 2013 when it cut ties with local importer Precision Motor. The company’s 11th subsidiary, Ducati India Pvt. Ltd, will handle operations under the leadership of Managing Director Ravi Avalur.
“In 2013 we began our groundwork in India and our belief in the market has been reaffirmed,” says Pierfrancesco Scalzo, Asia General Manager of Ducati. “This has been possible with great partners such as AMP, Infinity and VST. I have travelled extensively across the length and breadth of India, met Ducatisti, felt their passion and know that we will be successful in this country. Ducati will provide the same high standards of service in India as we do everywhere else in the world.”
Scalzo spoke at a press conference held at Ducati’s new store in New Delhi. Covering five floors with a total area of about 29,000 sq-ft., the New Delhi location is Ducati’s largest dealership. Ducati India also has a store in Mumbai and will open a location in Bangalore in October with other stores planned for other cities including Pune and Hyderabad.
Ducati India’s launch lineup includes the Diavel (including Carbon and Titanium trims), the Scrambler, the 899 Panigale, the 1199 Panigale, the 1299 Panigale (plus the S version), the Monster 821, the air-cooled Monster S4 and the Asian market-specific Monster 795.
