2013 AMA Supercross Schedule Released
Promoter Feld Motor Sports has announced the schedule for the 2013 AMA Supercross Championship. The 17-round schedule is similar to the 2012 calendar but with Minneapolis, Minn., replacing the New Orleans, La., stop.
The season kicks off Jan. 5 in Anaheim, Calif., for the first of two events at Angel Stadium. The Supercross and Supercross Lites West class will continue with four other rounds in California and a round in Phoenix. The Supercross Lites East class begins its season Feb. 16 in Arlington, Texas. Toronto, Canada returns as the lone location outside the U.S.
Making its return to the AMA Supercross tour is the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The Metrodome last hosted AMA Supercross in 2008.
“The 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, schedule will once again showcase what will arguably be the sport’s deepest field ever inside the world’s premier stadiums,” says Charlie Mancuso, president of Feld Motor Sports. “After reaching milestones in 2012, with sell-outs at the two races at Angel Stadium and the Georgia Dome, Monster Energy Supercross also posted record numbers at the Edward Jones Dome and the tour is on pace to garner the highest attendance figures in the sport’s history. This success clearly identifies that the growing popularity of the sport and will serve as a springboard for 2013.”
