2009 Yamaha V-Star 1300 - The Best!

In December 2010, I bought a 2009, V-Star 1300 (0 miles). I bought a 2009 because I wanted a white bike and 2009 was the only year they made them in white. This is my first Yamaha and I love it. The overall design is thoughtful and the bike is good-looking, clean, simple, user-friendly and comfor...table.

It also has all the power you need so I was astonished to read that the moto press considers this a 'mid-size cruiser.' Nonsense. You can cruise all day at 65-75 mph, but if you need to speed, the 1300 will easily spool up to 100-110 mph with no fuss. No-one should ever need to go that fast, especially on a 'cruiser,' but it's nice to know I have the power if I need it, to pass someone or keep up with traffic on the Interstate. I was also pleased to discover that the speedo is, in fact, accurate.

I have owned two small Hondas and two Kawi Vulcans (500 and 900) and enjoyed them all but the V-Star 1300 is the bike for me. To be fair, I only looked at and compared the big four Japanese metrics: Honda, Kawi, Yam, and Suzuki because I insist on proven reliability and dependability, reasonable pricing, and the broadest-based service network possible. (Very few other marques can easily meet these criteria.) I have little brand loyalty in motorcycles because I seek the best product for the money.

In brief, the V-Star 1300 is good looking and the fit and finish are impeccable. It runs smooth as silk and sounds great. The factory exhaust is neither too loud nor too soft and the factory chrome pipe cover is very distinctive and a very nice touch. All other parts and covers are solid and good looking. It is also worth mentioning that the V-Star after-market parts are outstanding. For example, I replaced the passenger pillion with a contoured V-Star chrome billet luggage rack which is so sleek and beautiful it ought to be in the Museum of Modern Art!

I also almost always replace the factory moto seat with a Mustang seat and this simple upgrade really makes riding the 1300 feel like home. As I am a bit particular, I also removed all decals, stickers, marques and pinstripes and added back a few catalogue chrome accents in order to get a super sleek, slick, clean-looking bike.

To sum up, I finally found the bike that made me lose all interest in buying any more bikes. If you are a true bike lover, there's no higher praise than that! The V-Star 1300: It's a winner!

Sweet Ride

I just purchased a 2009 V Star 1300, (left over) (0) miles. With VH pipes and Mustang Seat installed, good to go. Just drove it 50 miles from bike shop home, what a sweet ride! Ton's of power, handles beautifully, the VH pipes growl a very pleasing note.. Fit and finish is outstanding and far bet...ter than the Honda Shadow 1100 I upgraded from. Took it out on the interstate on way home, 70mph and purred like a kitten.. Am looking forward to a long relationship with this Star.. Glad I went with Yamaha.. Read Full Review

After owning an XV1100, XVS1100 I now have the Vstar1300 and what a fantastic machine.



I have found it to be comfortable on a long ride (longest run to date is 1125miles in 2 days) and has very good economy also.



Plenty of torque through the range means it can take on everything the road can... throw at you. Here in New Zealand we have a lot of winding roads and the VStar loves it almost as much as I do

The seating position fits perfect and my wife enjoys the large seat provided on the back. The aftermarket floor boards I fitted for her are ideal.

I recommend this to anyone returning to bikes as it is very user friendly or to someone wanting to step up to a big cruiser Read Full Review
