Comfortable, powerful, stable
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 01, 2009The MP3 400 is a great tourer: smooth, roomy, fast (top speed about 90 mph). Eats up bumps and other road irregularities. No trouble keeping up with traffic on the interstate, but it really shines on the twisties. Generous storage capacity in stock form, and with a variety of top and side cases/bags ... available, can carry loads of gear. I've taken mine camping with a tent, pad, sleeping bag, and a modicum of clothing and other essentials. Gets about 50 mpg with spirited riding, much of it at highway speeds. Only gripe is that the fuel tank is small.

Quick, stable, a joy to ride
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 19, 2009I bought my Piaggio MP3 400ei last August when gas was $4 a gallon. I thought it would be a cheap alternative to my 4 wheel drive pickup just to ride to work and run errands.
I was pleasantly surprised at the smooth accelleration of this scooter. It has no problem keeping up with traffic ... even on the highway. My first tank of gas I got 67 mpg! But the REAL beauty of this bike is the handling. What a difference that third wheel makes in the stability on uneven surfaces, rain, even gravel. Very nimble and agile. And braking is amazing. I've owned ridden motorcycles of many brands and sizes for 40 years and currently also own a 2000 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic. But none of the bikes I have owned have been as much fun as this three wheeled Piaggio!
It's simple to operate, easy to get on and off, and stands up by itself. Parking is a breeze thanks to the parking brake and the electro-hydraulic lock on the front end. It has loads of storage space for your helmet or to pick up a few things at the grocery or Lowe's. It's just a great all around little vehicle.
With only a few thousand miles on the odometer, I'm sure it will run reliably for many more miles. It's run flawlessly since the day I brought it home.
If you should decide to buy one, be prepared to answer alot of questions anywhere you stop while riding it. I've had people yell out of car windows asking what it is that I'm riding. People are curious about the unusual three wheel set-up. I've had a lot of fun talking to folks about it. Draws attention in any parking lot!
It's also a "green" alternative to other vehicles. Meets Euro 3 emission standards which are much stricter than here in the USA. So you can feel good about riding a bike that's clean and green.

It's Almost a Car
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 04, 2008I had wanted a scooter that had the power and stability that would allow me to travel interstate highways without fear. The MP3 400 fits that bill and more. I have ridden the MP3 400 on busy interstates that I would never ride on with a 2 wheel bike and have been very comfortable and confident. The ... bike handles beautifully and nimbly on local streets as well. The wheel locking feature is very useful and I find that I rarely use the center stand. I appreciate the many different functions that can be viewed on LCD instrument panel. I have been receiving about 65 MPG. The only thing that I would like to see improved is a small storage compartment in the front section of the bike where others have them. In conclusion, this bike has been the most useful scooter I have ever owned and can be used almost everyday.
