An outstanding mid-sized cruiser.
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 31, 2018If you've always been a sports bike or dirt bike rider and are looking at moving into the cruiser category, or perhaps you're on the smaller side but looking to get into a big body cruiser, the Vulcan 900 Classic is the perfect bike for you.
It delivers much of the feel, look and ride ... of a larger cruiser, but it is much easier to ride and fall in love with.
At 660lbs it's about 200-300lbs lighter than most large bore cruisers in the 1500-1800 range. But it delivers a great cruiser experience.
I put 60k miles on my 900 Classic LT and it would have been more except for an asshat in a GMC Yukon who doesn't know how to merge into traffic.
I'm a big guy (6' 230), I've ridden all day two-up with my wife, loaded it down and taken it to California and back, carved canyons and mountains in several states. The 900 was up to every challenge.
No, you're not gonna win any drag races with a 900, but I wouldn't call it slow. Off the line it's 903cc engine takes a bit to get it up to speed, but in the higher rpm ranges the 900 is on point and you'll have no issues accelerating onto the freeway or rolling on the throttle out of curves.
But the best part of the 900 is how reliable it is. Not just mechanically, but the riding experience. It will never give you any nasty surprises. It gives back exactly what you put into it. It's what makes canyon carving so much fun on a 900. You can push this bike to the limit and be completely confident that it's never going to step out on you.
And of course it's legendary for its mechanical reliability. They bike has remained virtually uncganged since it was released on 2006 because they got it completely right the first time. This also means there are a TON of aftermarket parts for this bike that allow you to customize your experience. As you can see from the pics, I've made several changes to the bike over the years and parts were easy to come by.
And of course there's the price. Brand new for less than $9000, or get a used one with 20k miles for less than $4000
You seriously can't go wrong.

Running with the big dogs
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 22, 2010I bought my 2007 Vulcan 13 months ago. This month I did a 4400 km trip with 3 friends. The Vulcan performed brilliantly, never missed a beat and had no problem keeping up with the other bigger bikes (a Harley Electra Glide, a Honda Gold Wing and a Honda Valkyrie). I am however glad that I bought ... a Mustang seat before the trip as I found the stock seat to be uncomfortable after about a hour.
We did the trip in 9 days and crossed the Rockies twice, from Alberta to the coast and back again, after riding all the way to northern California. The longest day was an almost 800 km ride from Medford OR to Kennewick WA. Again the Vulcan proved to have enough power to whatever I demanded of it. I was particularly impressed with the acceleration when passing other vehicles: From about 70 km/h, or even less, I just needed to twist the throttle and it would accelerate without hesitation to 130 km/h, or more:-)
Highly recommended.

My first bike too!...
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 26, 2009I picked my bike up on e-bay at a steal! it's my first bike after taking the NJ Riders Ed course back in June. It came not even fully broken in > 700 miles and warranteed til 2012!. I've been on back roads and hit the highway for the first time less than a week ago. The bike rides smooth and stable, ... turning is a charm, reminds me of the bicycle riding I did as a kid on my paper route. I haven't gone over 60 with it yet, I want to finish out the break in period.
I'm happy, this is my dream bike as a beginner at 46 yrs and 350lbs and I could never thought it would be so easy to master!.

I own two
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 23, 2009I have two Vulcan's I have the Vulcan 900 Classic and the 900 Custom.
I have done many mods on the bikes the classic has Vance and Hines lots of chrome windshield, bags. This bike is my wifes she has put in one summer around 8500 miles on it loves it we ride everywhere lots of miles she ... never has complained being tired says it is perfect. the bike looks good and rides like a champ as i found out when i took it out one Saturday for a ride. You simply can't go wrong.
I also have a 07 Custom 900 that i have many many mods on COBRA dragsters, sounds awesome i lowered 2 inches in the back gave it a more mean look i did have the seat gel filled. i have the power processor onit i will tell you it will fly, Ask the guys that ride with me, I have rode a lot of bikes but i love these bikes the only thing about either of them is i keep looking for 6 gear though scoot works makes a pully that does well for that. These two bikes turn heads no matter were we go no matter if it is a harley gathering or just crusing down the interstate I love the way it handles I bought this custom last year I have put 16000,00 miles on it in less than a year i don't walk to the garage and look at it i ride no matter what. The fat back tire gives it a great stand you just can't go wrong.

Colorado road test.
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 23, 2009I have owned my Vulcan for a little over a year now. This is my 5th street bike and I continue to be impressed by how smooth this bike is to ride. The bike now has 7,000 trouble free miles. The highlight of the last year was a 1500 mile ride with my son on his first streetbike. On this trip, we rode ... through everything, sunshine rain and even snow. This Kawaski handles all of the conditions very well. The power of the Vulcan engine performed very well as we climbed several of Colorado's passes with full saddle bags and never lacked in power or comfort. I have loaded the bike with several accesories including heated custom seat, saddle bags and windscreen. Everytime a friend wants to swap bikes, they come away from my bike impressed with how smooth and easy this bike handles. I don't see me shopping for a replacment for this bike anytime in the near future because of how impressed I've been with how much bike I got for the money.
