Super fantastic bike
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 22, 2012Purchased mine used on Sept 8th 2011. Since then have put over 20k on it, (it had 4571 miles on it when I got it). Made several long rides on it of over 1k miles round trip on 3 different occassions and have never been let down by it. The 96 CI engine is fantastic and the 6th gear makes long trips ... very effecient on fuel. Have always averaged over 43 MPG even with daily commutes to and from work and in town. My only knock on the bike the cost of the rear tire. The 200/55 skin isn't cheap and hard to find in that size. My buddies who all have bigger baggers have told me from the beginning that I would eventually be trading up for more comfort, but I don't see it happening. This bike is that comfortable and let's face it, it LOOKS like a bike should and not a two wheel car. Keep the wheels down and enjoy the ride.

Love it, love it, love it
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 21, 2009I bought my bike in August of 06 and I have loved it ever since. The only problem I had with it was a loose wire at the battery after it had been serviced by the dealer.

Dream Harley
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 24, 2008Since childhood I was a BIG Harley fan,...but never thought I was going to own one. Finally could afford my first Harley, a 1200 low Sportster. This was an excellent machine to start off with, but I always had a certain picture in my mind of how a Harley must look like, i.e. trading in my sportster ... for the 2007 softail custom. I love this bike to death. Lotsa power, comfort, looks, sound and feels GREAT!! There is nothing that can describe the feeling you get when firing up your HOG and tackling the road. Safe riding!!

22,500 mile review
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 16, 2008I purchased this bike in June 2007 and in the last year have put 22,500 miles on it, mostly commuting 70 miles a day through rush hour traffic on the freeway. I really like the power and torque of the new 96 cubic inch (1584 cc) engine and the speed of the 6-speed transmission. In fact since the ... 5th gear takes you up to 100 mph, I rarely use the 6th gear except to drop the rpms and coast at 85 mph. The bike is so quiet in 6th gear that you could be going dangerously fast and not realize it. I purchased the preventive maintenance plan from the dealership (in addition to the 5 year warranty) so the bike has been very well maintained (every 2500 miles, around 6 weeks). I like the security system which lets you walk away without locking the bike (even though I do). I also keep it covered both at my apartment and at work, for security and to keep prying eyes away. I like the custom Burgundy and Creme Gold Pearl paint job which was only available Jan-Mar 2007, as well as all the chrome. The factory exhaust is more open and louder than before, and the 200 mm rear tire looks great and has good traction. The standard Kevlar rear drive belt is light weight and completely trouble free. Miles per gallon range from 40 to 44, so the 5 gallon tank gives you a range of about 200 miles. With the Electronic Fuel Injection, there is no carburettor, no choke, no fuel valve, no warm up. Just turn the key, start the bike, and go. The battery is also maintenance free. The halogen headlight is always on so you don't have to turn it on, and it gives a brilliant view of the road ahead at night time. The tufted pillow seat is very comfortable for long rides and the passenger seat has a back rest. The foot pegs and controls are at the front of the bike so you can stretch your legs, and can also use the passenger foot pegs if you want to bend your legs. The seat height is only 26 inches so you can easily hold up the bike at stop lights. The rear shock absorbers are hidden underneath the bike so you can get a good look at the chrome plated slotted disc rear wheel. The bike is a true cruiser and looks cool as well as being practical for general purpose, everyday use. I only use my car to do my weekly grocery shopping or when it is raining. Otherwise I ride the bike all year, through freezing winter and blistering summer. I can't stand being caged up in a car and stuck in traffic. The bike allows me to keep riding between cars when the traffic is slow or stopped, and also to use the car pool lane. Plus with the lower mass (700 lbs), small size and fast acceleration, it is much easier to switch lanes and get ahead of the traffic.

HARLEY 2007 SOFTAIL CUSTOM
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 15, 2008very under rated bike that truly kicks ass and does anything you want. you can cruise all day and get 50 mpg at 70 mph. you can customize the bike with all the chrome, performance or touring-comfort accessories you want. you can be 5 feet tall or 6' 5" and the bike will fit you, thanks to the harley ... p.a. book. you want performance so you go harley sreamin eagle! the counter balanced engine is super smooth and maintenace free. just ignore the clunk going into 1 st. gear with the engine cold! just give it 3 qts of oil and a filter and stretch the belt every 5k miles. 2 spark plugs at 20k miles. any joe blow can tune and maintain this bike! that's it! you don't need to spend $400 at a speed shop to tune it. and your resale value is always there come time to trade up.
