H-D trike assembly moving to York

Tri Glide and Street Glide trike assembly moving in-house
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jan. 28, 2010
Harley-Davidson is moving final assembly of its trikes to its York Vehicle Operations facility.

The move is part of Harley-Davidson s efforts to restructure operations. The York, Pa., facility will begin producing the Tri Glide and Street Glide trikes for the 2011 model year. Previously, Harley-Davidsons trikes were assembled under a supply agreement of Lehman Trikes of Spearfish, South Dakota.

The restructuring of Harley-Davidsons York operations provides the opportunity for us to build trikes in-house and streamline trike assembly and distribution, says Julie Chichlowski, Harley-Davidson director of P&A Trike Platform Parts and Accessories. Lehman Trikes has been a responsive, high-quality supplier to Harley-Davidson for trikes and it has been a pleasure to work with them.

Harley-Davidson is shifting production of its Tri Glide and Street Glide trikes to its York facility.

The union at the York Vehicle Operations plant recently voted in favor of a new agreement with Harley-Davidson that would eliminate nearly half the workforce.
