John McGuinness won his 15th Isle of Man TT, breaking his own lap record in the Dainese Superbike class on June 8.

Racing for HM Honda Plant, McGuinness finished 18 seconds ahead of teammate Steve Plater for the win.

Hydrex Honda’s Guy Martin placed third to complete a one-two-three finish for Honda which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its racing debut at the 1959 Isle of Man TT.

The victory moved McGuinness past nine-time Grand Prix champion Mike Hailwood into second in all-time Isle of Man TT wins. Only Joey Dunlop can claim more race victories on the Isle of Man, with a total of 26.

John McGuinness was greeted on the podium by MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi.

McGuinness didn’t wait long to break records, setting a fastest lap on his second tour of the circuit with a time of 17:21.29, translating to an average speed of 130.442 mph. Plater also broke the 130 mph mark and was McGuinness’ main challenger, but was unable to match his teammate.

Reigning MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi congratulated McGuinness on the podium and took his own lap of the circuit on a Yamaha R1.
