2009 Hungarian GP Canceled
2009 Hungarian GP canceled
The FIM accepted a request from event promoter Balatonring Zrt. to postpone the event until 2010.
Originally scheduled for Sept. 20, the race was supposed to be the first event held at the Balatonring Circuit in Savoly, Hungary. Due to a harsh winter and economic struggles, construction of the track is still only in its early stages and will not be completed in time for the race.
The Hungarian Grand Prix was added to the 2009 MotoGP calendar to replace the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, China. The FIM has no plans to replace the Hungarian Grand Prix, reducing the number of races in the 2009 season to 17.
