Still in LOVE
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 23, 2011I purchased my 09' R6s in Oct 09, still riding strong after over 34000! Sure, you gotta keep up with regular maintanence and your Yamaha will love you back. First real experience with a 600 and couldnt ask for a better bike. Highly recommended, beautiful looking bike and a joy to ride. One thing ... is if you got a good amount of mileage on your R6s, make sure you get the coils checked. I just got mine replaced (under YAMAHA warranty), at no charge. Keep up the great work YAMAHA!!

good bike
By (I am an Owner) on May 20, 2011The bike is excellent. When you hit 7k RPM it really starts tearing up the speed. Low RPMs are a little sluggish. The clutch is relatively easy to use. There have been no mechanical issues. I love the bike!

By (I am an Owner) on Jan 23, 2010This is the first bike I have ever owned and it has been a blast. I have riden a lot of my friends bikes before this one, everything from ducati to suzuki. i recomend this bike to anyone who wants a bike that is great for the twisties.. you can through this bike around curves and rapidly excelerate ... out of them. With only a few upgrades this bike can be a true track day bike.

California Edition as 1st Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 21, 2009Everyone is wondering wether this would be a good bike for beginners. The short answer is no but, it all really depends on the person. I pick things up quickly and would never exceed my skills limits. Some people just dont know where those limits are. For those people, do not get this bike. ... It's stupid fast. I've taken this bike to skyline drive in VA to practice some, and it really sticks like glue. The acceleration is really strong approching 8k rpm and it blasts off when u go anywhere above 10k rpm. It revs to 15.5k rpm. The throttle is very sensitive, especially in 1st gear, you must be very light in an on-off throttle situation. The margin for error is probably 1mm. It's clunky going from 1st to 2nd gear but im attributing that to shifting to slow with the clutch coming out of 1st. Great Bike Great Price. They are letting them go CHEAP!!

09 r6s
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 04, 2009Bought one on Feb 8th of 09. Dealers will sell cheap since the market is so low. Paid $8,000.00 on the road. I only put on 135 miles so far. Added a slip on pipe and a k&n air filter and It is faster then my friends 08 GSXR 600. Fun bike but needs a gear inticator. Over all a great bike for ... the money.

09 R6S
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 14, 2009Picked mine up at the end of the summer last year and can't get enough of it. Smooth clutch, very light, and the power is deffinatly there when you want it. I went in to buy a GSX and walked out with the R6s. I have rode with the regular R6 and have no problems what so ever keeping up with them. ... Over all a great bike. Wouldn't recommend for a first bike though.

2009 R6S Raven
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 18, 2008I picked it up on the 29th of August, just ahead of the long weekend. Loving it so far.
The Engine is one of the smoothest ever and practically dominated the 600 scene through its 03-05 run. It still runs strong and is quick off the stop lights.
0-60 is perfectly achievable ... in under 3 seconds. Transmission is butter smooth and shifting produces a nice satisfying click. I did experience some clunky downshifts but that seems to come and go.
Brakes are very impressive and keep me out of trouble.
But what's most impressive is the handling. The bike begs to be leaned and thrown into corners. The handling is the selling point on this one. It's just amazing and intuitive.
I'm 5'10" and this bike fits me perfectly well. Easy for me to have both feet flat on the ground (if you care for that sort of thing) with room to spare.
Ergonomics are better than most other sports bikes (with the exclusion of the 07+ CBR600RR which is comfier).
To top it off, this one's quit a looker as well. I actually prefer the looks of this one to the current model R6. I could lose the exhaust though (which is an easy enough fix with an Akrapovic slip-on).
Fit and finish are of a quality that appears better than the other Japanese manufacturers.
Overall, I think it was a steal at $8,499. I absolutely love it.
