04 R1
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 02, 2013this my second 04 and i can not describe in just words the acceleration this bike has. i have added galfer steel braided brake lines, now she stop just as fast as she take off. cosmetically i have only added targa rear fender eliminator, flush mounts, rear swing arm spools, sport-tech wind screen, ... tank pad, r1 grips.if i was to buy another it would only be the 09 model due to cross-plane.

FZ 750T
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 06, 2012Well its no YZF R1 but its a Yamaha. Its a comfortable ride with plenty of grunt to spare and two up does nothing to limit that horsepower. Handling is limited to traction maximums and night time visibility is fully satisfactory only using high beam to raise the light in corners on back Country Roads, ... the headlights have a generous spread.A smooth free running engine ,my old Yamaha FZ 750 T is my constant companion. So what ;some will say. Well here's the good oil... EVERYTHING has been improved on new millenium models. EVERYTHING imagineable and real has been improved on what is a fabulous machine at 23 years old.I'm just looking forward to stepping into the new millenium framework and getting the cockpit experience that MUST go with it.

Simply the best! Ex-owner of a '98 & '99 R1.
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 05, 2009I owned a GSXR1100 when I read the write-up on the new R1 in '98. I quickly sold my GSXR & purchased a '98 R1. I was blown away by the difference between the 2 bikes & was stunned by it's performance. I fitted the bike with a full Arrow system & K&N. In '99 I traded it in on the '99 model which I ... swapped the exhaust over to. I then fitted it with manifold-injected Nitrous Oxide for a little more fun. At 13000km I stripped the engine & fully blueprinted it; had the head ported & flowed, ceramic coated the piston tops & teflon coated the skirts, lightened the crank, shaved the head to raise the compression, fitted V&M cams & refitted the NOS. It was truely a force to be reckoned with making 172rwhp n/a & over 240rwhp (with wheelspin) using the nitrous; & with the rear sprocket changed to a 40 tooth had the legs to outrun ANY other make of roadbike. 300+kph was a regular thing & 240kph wheelstands! I currently do not own one but nevertheless, they are so much fun with power to burn. AAA+ from me!

By (I am an Enthusiast) on Oct 13, 2008It's amazing, just when ya think they could'nt make a better bike.
Bammm! Yamaha kicked it up a knotch!
I feel as though the stock power delivery is clean through the band, the handling whether on street or on track is exceptional. Last buy surely not least..............Sexy Sexy Sexy! ...
What more could we ask for?
Love is the best definition that describes the relationship between my bike and I.

Perfect Sports Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 16, 2008I just bought a used 2004 R1. To be frank, when I read some reports about "the beast", I was a bit concerned whether a 180 horsepower bike was the right decision.
Well, it was: this big bike is amazingly easy to handle. I was surprised that it does not feel heavier than some 400 cc ... bikes. And about acceleration, of course no complaints with this ratio of power:weight. At the same time no tendency to do unintended wheelies. Perfect.
Only two things to get used too: the clutch is extremely hard. And the front brakes really bite. I never made the front tire of any other bike scream like this. But still it always feels under control.
And of course, the bike is not ideal for touring. And forget about long distance rides with a passenger. But you know that when you buy a sports bike, right?
Have a safe ride.
