Old bike, new-again rider
By Honda Rider (I am an Owner) on May 07, 2023I needed something to get my riding legs (seat) back, so I bought a used, near mint 2004 Sabre VT 1100c2 and I love this motorcycle! It has less than 8400 original miles on it, never ridden in inclement weather and was garage kept. I rode smaller Hondas when I was younger and the VT1100 Sabre is ... the largest bike I've ever owned or ridden. It handles much better than I could ever have imagined and it's the perfect upgrade (even at this age) from the smaller bikes of my youth!

Could be better
By (I am an Owner) on May 18, 2015Hi I have riden this bike for two years after my dad gave it to me to ride. I learned how to ride dirt bikes before bicicles so I have had a little experience on two wheels. This bike was a great beginner bike for me and I really enjoy riding it. Overall the bike is great it handles good and is comfortable ... to go on a cruise every once in awhile. But me and my dad like to go on long trips and we can ride anywhere from 70 to 80 on the highways for miles and we stop more to get gas for me than him. I don't think it has to small of a tank it just needs either a higher geared fifth gear or a sixth gear. I am 5-11 and I ride comfortably with highway bars. I don't think I could ride for very long without them. If I could change anything I would put a costom extended fender with hard bags with exhaust on each side under the bags. It needs cams so it sounds a little better and has more power. A fuel gauge with a low fuel light and a tachometer would be great. The wheels need to be six spoke aluminum wheels with either polished chrome with stock paint or matte black with matte black paint job which is what I would go with. It needs skinnier front wheel and a smaller head light with a more rounded lense and a new taillight design and taller bars from the factory I put my dad's old bars off of his 07 ultraclassic and since they are taller they are a little taller it is a lot more comfortable to ride and it is a lot eisier to handle in curves. I'm getting a ferring for mine cause I don't like the windshield. I basically just need a whole new bike lol

A little heavy and underpowered
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 11, 2014Hi, I use to ride a Shadow VT1100 C 1990, for 11 years and now I replaced for this Sabre. Both are a little underpowered and with low final speed. I think with a 1100 VT motor you can deliver more power and final speed. Another thing is the Alternator is too short in their capacity. The fuel tank ... could be bigger till 17 litres. And the rear dampers are too hard, they could be softer. It coud be a cool improvement to relocate better the passenger pegs for better long distance riding confort.
As pros, it has good stability and easy to handle.

The Sabre for All
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 22, 2011As an avid Honda rider for years and years I must say I have owned them all. From the Honda Trail 70, Honda XR75, Honda SL100, Honda 250 Elsinore, Honda 754 Supersport to the Honda 1100 V-Twin Sabre. I cannot complain about any of them.
The Sabre is a very nice riding bike, plenty ... of style and flash and a get up and go V-Twin that is beaten by few. I ride mine all over the USA. I now have 16,000 miles on my Sabre, it looks brand new and rides and runs even better. Enjoy one of Hondas many success bikes, you wont be disappointed.

Good but not Great
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 19, 2010I purchased this bike as an upgrade from a 1984 Honda Magna. I like the overall performance of the bike, however there are a few bells and whistles that is is missing. A low fuel light, tachometer, and center stand. All of which my 1984 had and now I miss. I would have thought technology would ... have increased not decreased. I guess you get what you pay for. I still love the honda performance and I will always be a big fan of the shaft drive. Add some custom pipes and you are set.

Nicest Bike I've Owned Since 1971
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 27, 2009Smooth with low, relaxed seating position. Enough power to cruise any highway all day. Not designed or powered for drag racing. Only minor complaint is the size of the fuel tank. I would like better range between gas stations.

Shadow VT1100 Sabre
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 01, 2009This has been a great riding bike! Previously owned a 750 version which was too small. I am a good size guy and the VT1100 fits very nice, easy to handle and a smmoth runner. The bike may be a little under powered if you are more than 250 lbs. No issues with mechanical problems, just repolaced ... tires and brakes after 10,000 miles of easy riding.
