First bike
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 13, 2014It is my first bike. I had no motorcycle riding experience previous to this though I was very comfortable on a bicycle. I spent about an hour learning the feel of the bike in a large empty parking lot and cruising up and down on it. It is a great bike for a beginner but also a great bike for a more ... experienced rider. The controls are very smooth and even forgiving. It is lighter and more agile than it looks. Would definitely recommend.

Great Ride for Anyone
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 22, 2014I'm a 40 year old female, this is my first bike. I've only ridden passenger for about 7 years on my husbands Harley's thru out those years...I've always wanted to ride my own bike, after discussing with my husband and taking the safety course, we decided that the Honda VLX 600 was the best choice ... for me. I love it! It's smooth and handles well. It's not too heavy but also not wimpy looking either...funny thing is that I find my husband wanting to ride it more than his Harley Street Glide!

Best Everyman Cruiser Ever Made
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 02, 2011My memories of my VLX keep everything I ever loved about being free on the road fresh in my mind. I've had every bike from Beemers to Magnas to Sportbikes over the past 40 odd years of riding. Even tried middleweight cruisers for a time. Each was a different riding experience...good and bad. Then ... after figuring each of those bikes did certain things very well...I felt the pull to go to a simpler ride. And a mid weight easy to handle bike. I had a VLX for a short time in the late 1980's...and knew that was the way to roll. 583cc...V-Twin...great fuel efficiency....slender bike, not so heavy as the fatso cruisers. Easy to handle. In a word-SIMPLE...I've never regretted the choice. Lets me enjoy riding every time!

GREAT Cruiser!
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 06, 2009This Motorcycle is so stable. The center of gravity is perfect for everyday riding and is confident.
Most people call the motorcycle a beginner bike only. However as the Cruisers get larger and larger and cost increasing more this motorcycle is perfect for everyday commuting and touring with ... out breaking the bank. Add some saddle bags and a windshield at it will go across country.
It would have been nice to have 5 speeds, However the 4 speed tranny handles the job just fine! This motorcycle will still get you out ahead of most cars and passing is a joy on the highway with no need to drop a gear. There is plenty of torque and horsepower to get the job done.
Unfortunately Honda stopped making this motorcycle after 2008. "Maybe it will return with some updates" (Please Honda)!!
This motorcycle is not just for beginners as it has an attractions that anyone can enjoy!
