New Owner
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 17, 2011After many visits to the Harley dealership, and doing my reasearch I purchased a new Streetglide as my first bike. I had rented Road Kings, prior to my purchase. No comparison, the streetglide is smooth and comfortable with ample power and torque. When I get on the highway for a ride I hate to stop. ... I often go out of my way to take the scenic route.I have no regrets.A.T.

The Best!
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 11, 2010I'm 63, purchased a 2000 Road King new and traded it in last year for a new 2009 Street Glide. I have to say, the bike is absolutely fantastic. With the new frame, 96 in. engine, 6 speed and good sounds system you just can't go wrong. From all the bikes I've ridden, this one is by far the best. Harley ... Davidson has come up with the ultimate compromise between a performance bike and bagger. Again ...you just can't go wrong.

2009 Sreet Glide
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 26, 2010All in all, this bike beats all expectations of the previous Street Glides. The 2009 has 450 changes. The handling , power , torque. One out of a 100 the shocks are bad. You get a thump, where it wants to bottom out and send your spine thru your neck ,or it does a bounce, which wants to throw you ... off the seat. Not enough complaints yet to HD to make a change in the suspension. We have four of these bikes and all the same problem. Maybe soon they wil make a correction.

Love at first ride
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 27, 2010Last year I rode my Dyna Lowrider from New Jersey to Lake George about 300 miles for Americade. It was a windy ride and I worked the whole way with no windshield. My buddy was riding his Ultra and looked as confortable as if he was sitting on hos couch in his living room. His tunes cranking he was ... living life. I was taking a beating and the only tunes I heard was my Reinhardt exhaust screaming. While at Americade I test rode the 09 Streetglide. Its was love at first ride. I can't believe I didn't get one sooner. About a month later I purchased my streetglide and love it. Its an awesome ride, no more wind issues. The bigger gas tank means more riding. Its just all around great. My first ride with the new glide was to Philadelphia for a chesse steak run to the famous Ginos. I forsee a lot of miles getting put on this bike. If you never rode a streetglide I suggest you test ride one asap. I guarantee you will be hooked.

Perfect!
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 15, 2009Harley Davidson has come up with the perfect compromise between bagger and street bike. I went from a 2000 Road King to the 2009 Street Glide about 6 months ago, including Vance & Hines Monster Ovals and FuelPack. Since then .... 14,000 kms. Can't get enough of it. Highly recommended.

By (I am an Owner) on Nov 03, 2009i went from a 2000 dyna, to a 2002 roadking class.then i decided on a new streetglide 09,but weary of the fairing ,what a jerk i was to think i would not like it ... i dont like it, i love it. what a difference from my rking.the bike is great on the road, and also in the city.love the music on the ... road, when hooked up to ipod. its more responsive than my rking, better ride. harley made a winner with this one.let them call it a geezerglide. this 53 yr old geezer is enloying the ride.

2009 Street Glide Pewter Pearl
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 20, 2009I made the move from a Ducati ST3 Bagger to a 2009 Harley Davidson. The Street Glide does not have the handling or motor of the Ducati but considering the Harley is 400 lbs heavier it moves REALLY REALLY well for a bagger. The Harley is a true touring bike that you can actually use as fun bike too. ... I changed the pipes to Monster Ovals with a Power Commander to help the motor breathe a bit. I think the bike is a great all around performer and it is a quality American made product. USA all the way !!!!

By (I am an Owner) on Jul 09, 2009I found the V-rod bad on highway in wind and looked long and hard to replace it. I am picking up a new 09 for $ 22,900 Cdn Tax in. I have a Vance and Hines 2 into 1 pro pipe ordered. Arlen ness big sucker air kit. Kloc Works shield for Highway trips. Like everybody else a set of Hog-tunes. I will ... follow up with a report on my first trip if i get the bike Saturday. Just my luck i will get the parts before the bike shows up. First trip will be Edmonton to Calgary Alberta for a burger. First oil change bike goes over to Amsoil. More to follow

Love my Street Glide
By (I am an Owner) on May 19, 2009Went from a Deuce to the 2009 SG. I had to "reajust my riding style from the Deuce. Once you realize the extra weight, I could not be more happy. The SG is very nimble, even at slower speeds. Changed the 4" windshield to 6" before leaving dealer. Luggage rack, Passenger back rest and sundowner seat. ... After riding from Millegeville, Ga to Panama City for Thunder Rally, I could have rode back. It was that comfortable. Sporty looking, but has the comfort too. I miss my Deuce, but love my SG!

Ground Pounder to Bagger - WOW
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 28, 2009I went from a Dyna Wideglide to a 2009 Street Glide, what a difference it makes, for someone with back problems. I was a little leary at first, but it has been a good move. The 09 is user friendly and good looking too with great handling,I think that I have to agree about the mini-shield, it was ... a pain, but changed it out and that was that. The only thing that I do not like and need to figure out, the kickstand is hard for a short legged person to navigate. That might just be shortperson syndrome...

Excellent Purchase
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 09, 2009Touring comfort and room with custom style. The combination is hard to beat. The handling is a lot more nimble than an 800+ pound bike should be. Love the stereo . Didn't know how much I would enjoy tunes on a bike until I bought this bike. The only negative I can think of is the helmet buffeting ... above 50. I'm 6'2, so shorter riders might not experience it so much. Luckily, there are plenty of options for replacement windshields.

2009 Street Glide
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 31, 2009I'm writing a review on a bike that I recently purchased (Dec) but not riden yet. This is my 10th motorcycle over the last 25 years with the last 6 being Harley Davidson's. I live in Alaska and the roads aren't clear enough to ride yet. My last two were Road Kings.
I cut my windshields ... down four inches because the top edge interferred with my line of sight. The only problem with cutting thm shorter was the shorter windshield caused an excessive amouont of wind buffet on my cranium! I assume the complaints about the Street Glide is probably for the same reason? Anyway, I sacrificed the wind buffet for clearer visibility.
I think the reason why people are complaining about hearing that whine noise in 5th gear is because H D put a staright cut gear in 5th gear to help limit side loads on the transmission bearings? The other gears are cut differently, helical cut, thus the whine noise in 5th only? Maybe H D should choose a different gear?
I figure if it is still going down the road straight and nothing is leaking or breaking off don't sweat it. Come on guys! You know I wonder sometimes who the real bikers are and who are the wannabees! Love to All HG
I love to ride motorcycles, period. Everyone I spoke with said it was a great improvemnt over my 05 R K. I was going to upgrade my engine and paint the bike ($4000) I traded and got a new 09 Street Glide for $6000 more. And for that I got a new ride, new waranty, bigger engine and tranny, stereo and crusie control. And I know it was a gamble buying this new one without ever riding it but Harley Davidson hasn't let me down yet.

One Bad azz Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 18, 2009Hello,
I just bought a 2009 Street glide right off the truck. got a great deal here in Texas. I have been riding for about 10 yrs and have owned 3 HD bikes. I have to say that this bike is the best bike I ever ridden. The power is great, the comfort is beyond approach, the styling ... is straight. I up graded the front tire to a 21 inch ustom rim, and man it blings. I have the Candy Apple Red, that sparkles when the sun hits it. I rode it today for 200 miles and it did not even hickup. it ran smooth, did not numb my butt, and the tunes were a added advantage. My last bike was a WideGlide that looked like a chopper, I am not old and wanted a bike that was still hip, nice, and a crowd pleaser. I did not want a bike that made me look old. This bike hits the marks, with the 21 in rim on the front it gives it the right look. I am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to ride again tomorrow.

What a machine!
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 02, 2009I have been riding for 45 years and my 09 Streetglide is my 6th new Harley so this is not my first rodeo. I went from an 06 Roadking which I thought was quite a nice bike to the SG. Nicest handling and riding bike I have ever been on. Plenty of power. I would however recommend the ABS. I left ... the dealer with 5 mi on the bike and with 20 miles on it a kid pulled out of the high school right in front of me. Bike just stopped, no skidding, no sliding, nothing, just stopped. I figure that one time paid for the ABS. $795 but I figure you will get some of that back if you ever decide to sell or trade the bike in.

2009 Harley-Davidson Street Glide
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 22, 2008I've had a 2009 Street Glide for about a month now and love it. This is my first bagger. I had a 2008 Fat Boy and thought it handled pretty well. The brakes and handling of the '09 touring bikes are wonderful but H-D has made a lot of other improvements. I test rode the new Street Glide in Daytona ... during Biketober Fest and bought one a week later. Shorter folks might not mind the windscreen but it flat sucks if you're over 5'10". I needed to switch to a full face helmet to get the bike home on the highway. It seems like a problem Harley should warn customers about. It's not just windy it's turbulent in the extreme.

Everything I could want in upgrading from a V Rod
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 14, 2008Don't get me wrong the V Rod is a wonderful bike, but moving to a bagger was a scary step. Would it be nimble in the curves? would it have enough power compared to what I had? Well the answers for me are yes, yes and what V Rod. I can honestly say I have not looked back. The ride is comfortable, ... responsive and quick. I had not seen many speak on moving from the V Rod to the Street Glide so I was worried I would not be happy. First, things I did were to add a Passenger backrest for my gal and footboards. That allowed me to move the passenger pegs to the highway bar. Getting use to the more upright touring ride would have been hard except for the pegs on the highway bar, I now ride in the same way as the V Rod. Yes a bagger that can cut the curves and not worry about dragging parts off. Speed is quick and responsive. I have not heard the noise some speak of in 5th gear. Shorty windshield seems fine to me at 5'11" I must sit a little lower than some. Try a bike without a windshield and then you will love the shorty. The ride is very comfortable and you can tell the extra weight over the V Rod but only when parking, once moving it seems very light. The main upgrade on the list is the Rinehart exhaust and a stage 1 kit, not so much for power but to have the sound that seems to be missing. Heading out of Birmingham AL to the mountains of North Georgia this weekend to put some miles in and see the mountains. I did also order a set of Hog Tunes to improve on the highway sound, even the improved HD speakers for the model distort at speed. The stock chrome is plenty for most and the cruise control is a dream. I have only played with the rear cylinder cutoff but will sure help while at redlights and Thunder Beach sitting in traffic. Anyway, with the looks of the Street Glide and the ride you just can't go wrong.
