2009 Electra Glide Classic
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 19, 2015I currently own a 2009 Electra Glide Classic with 50,000km on the clock. It is my touring bike and therefore, since '09 I've taken her on 5 10,000km tours. The first thing I noticed out of the box was she did poorly at altitude with a full tour load (I'm a solo rider). In Colorado she just did not ... have anything left to give me when I needed it so... the following year in Vegas she got a stage 3 upgrade to 103 with 10.5:1 and the SE 259 Cam set, head springs and clutch beefup now she's a great all around performer. That same year however, I decided to renovate her suspension and went all gas progressives front and back with the progressive frame mods to tighten her up in the corners and give her an overall stiffer ride. This initially was a bit more hard a ride than I originally expected but quickly got used to it with a full tour load. Now, my Electra Glide performs and handles like a true Harly Touring should - 5 stars!

First Harley
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Aug 19, 2009I have been riding for 35 years and until now have never owned a HD motorcycle. I have been a Japanese rider forever. I just purchased a 2009 Ultra Classic to replace a 05 Yamaha Road Star Silverado. What a difference, it was unbelievable between the two bikes. The ride and handling was so much better ... than the Yamaha. The smaller HD motor could use some fine tuning to release the inner beast but you can feel it has the potential. I had to play with the air shock pressure to get the two up ride comfort right. I have had the bike for two months and have clocked some 3000+miles. I truely am impressed with the new chassis and ABS system under the 09. The wife and I plan to ride on some long vacations on this bike that we would have towed the Yamaha and rode local only. I considered a Gold Wing but just couldn't ride on that much plastic and it not be a dirt bike. Too many gadgets and looks too much like a space ship.

Gliding on a Geezer
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 11, 2009I've owned bikes from the age of 5 and the latest of which was a Roadstar for 10 years. I'll say this, the Roadstar pulled like a tractor but didn't even come close in comfort like the Ultra Classic. I've modified the engine a bit with a power commander 5 and exhaust and air cleaner.....now I have ... a stump puller. I've got nearly 1K miles in less than two weeks and hope to have 100K on this bike. Comfort is second to none and the handeling performance is incredible. Truly a couch on the road with enough get-up-n-go to satisfy most everyone. Don't miss this bike. You owe it to yourself to ride one before making your purchase.

Great Bike but ...
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 20, 2009Took delivery on my brand new 2009 classic 4 days ago. Have over 700 miles on it over the weekend all in Wyoming, all two up wife behind. It replaced a 92 Ultra which I liked but the new Classic is much much better. Stock seats are comfortable as they can be for 60 year old plus butts. My wife ... appreciated the difference of an inch or so in rearward placement of the rear seat. She says its cooler not being jammed up against my back. Years ago that would not have been a problem and apparently wasn't because I don't recall her complaining, but that was then and this is now. Love the handling especially. The only thing I think I might address, is that it lugs somewhat in 6th going up hills on I 25 at 65-75 mph. think it would be really annoying with a full load of gear. On Powder River pass in the Big Horns which is known for it's twisties up to 9,000+ ft of elevation the problem is obviated by downshifting which is part of the whole mountain ride thing anyhow. Already thinking to upgrade sometime to 103 ci SE 1 or 2. Any thoughts?? have heard bad things about the SE 110 ci. Reliability issues. I notice a whine which someone said was 5th gear, hell I thought it was my ear.

Love this bike
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 22, 2009Planned to keep my 04 EG Standard til one of us died but when I read about all the improvements on the 09 I couldn't resist. I absolutely loved the 04 and this bike is at least 50% better - smoother ride, cooler on the thighs, more powerful. Mileage is slightly less but its 96" vs. 88". I did lower ... mine front and back - the extra width does make it effetively higher even though the seat height is the same. With a 30" inseam it was a stretch but using the H-D lowering kits puts it right back where my 04 was in terms of flat-footed-ness.

2009 EG Classic
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 03, 2008Bike is very well balanced and handles much better then I expected from a bike this heavy. The slow speed handling is what really surprised me. Much more nimble then expected. The more I ride it the more I like it. Both my wife and I are comfortable on the stock seat, but when they made the bike ... wider it makes it feel like you are sitting up higher. Not an issue other then when I have to back it up. Quality seems very good. Performance is good for a big touring bike.
