142,000 kms and still going strong
By David (I am an Owner) on Jun 08, 2024I bought my electraglide classic used with 57,000kms on it in 2009 and was immediately impressed. I put 40,000 on it in the first 2 years I owned it with no problems. In the winter of 2011 I had the95 ci stage 2 big bore kit installed and had the chain tensioner changed to a hydraulic one and then ... put another 20,000 on it in 2012 going to the east coast for the second time. No issues and that was while carrying maximum weight allowable. I put another 20,000 in 2013 until I had an accident. The bike came through with cosmetic damage. I didn't. 2014 I was again riding to the east coast on it and put on another 20,000kms. I have not ridden as much do to personal reasons but with 140,000 on it I finally had the clutch rebuilt. Through all the years I have owned this bike I have only had the regular maintenance done like fluid changes and spark plugs, brakes and tires when needed. Even in my accident the biggest cost of repairs was replacing some chrome and the fairing and gas tank which had a minor paint chip. I have added 12 handle bars to help with my back issues and completed my Willy G collection on it. This bike is a tank and I will not give this bike up until I can no longer ride.

65,000 miles and still counting.
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 12, 2012I got my first Motorcycles in 1972 and this one is my favorite. I love the way it feels, the way it sounds, the way it rides and the way it looks. The Bike, as a whole, is wonderful. The problem is that individually many of the parts and subsystems SUCK.
Example
(1) modern fuel ... injection on and engine that (internally) looks like it was designed in the 1940's.
(2) Rear swing arm hard mounted to an engine that is rubber mounted in the frame. (Who ever came up with this one is needs to be fired)
(3) The front sprocket for the final drive is mounted under the secondary sprocket of the primary drive. (again, somebody needs to go)
(4) when you pay $20,000 for a motorcycle it ticks you off when the chrome starts falling of bolts and other chrome bits start to get rust pits on them, oh well.
Like I said in the beginning of all the bikes I have owned I like this one the best. Sure it has problems, it's just that when my butt is in the seat and my hand is on the throttle I can't keep the smile off my face.
One last thing, yes I will buy another Harley, maybe a Road Glide.
