New model expected summer 2009

Norton Motrcycles new owner Stuart Garner, in association with Spondon Engineering, is bringing the brand home to Britain aft years of American ownership.

The intention is to mass produce a current Norton prototype, known as the 961 Commando SS. The 961 will be the first new Norton model to be launched from the all-new Commando Platform. This model, as well as those intended to follow, will draw inspiration from the past while also building on the Norton legacy for the future.

was completed. His plan is to turn the 961 prototype into a full production specification bike with 50 units completed by the summer of 2009 a hefty undertaking indeed.

The production 961 will receive fuel injection to improve performance and emissions, Carbon wheels and body parts to save weight, a new kick stand, and an updated suspension from the Ohlins system currently fitted on the bike.
