We just got a news release from the AP wire that's so new it had a January 4 dateline on it -- and it's only January 3 right now! Wait, no hate-mail, now. We know about the international date line, thanks.

It appears that Toyota Motor Corp. and Yamaha Motor Co. will form a joint venture tomanufacture "large pleasure boats" in the United States, a Japanesebusiness daily reported tomorrow, er, today...

Toyota will also sell its domestic marine business operations to YamahaMotoras it has lost money in the business since its entry into the market in1997.

Toyota, which annually sells in the U.S. about 100 jet boats manufacturedbya U.S. company, drew a conclusion that it must secure a manufacturing andmarketing base in the U.S. in view of strong demand for large pleasureboatshere.

Toyota is the second-largest shareholder of Yamaha Motor, the world'ssecond-largest maker of motorcycles.
