BMW Motorrad Motorsport and two-time World Enduro Champion David Knight have parted ways mid-way through the 2009 season.

According to a statement from BMW, the split was by mutual agreement. BMW says Knight and his G450X racing bike did not harmonize well enough to achieve top placements within this highly competitive environment.

Knight signed with BMW in November 2008 after winning his second-consecutive U.S. Grand National Cross Country title. Knight was one of three high-profile WEC signings by BMW, joining the German brand with former WEC Champion Juha Salminen and Finnish Enduro Champion Marko Tarkkala.

According to BMW, David Knight did not "harmonize" with his G450X.
Knight completed several tests on BMWs G450X race bike in the pre-season but the season began his results fell below expectations. In four WEC rounds, Knight completed three of seven Enduro 3 races while sitting out the second race of the June 13-14 round in Finland. Knight has threes sixth-place results and sits 11th in the E3 championship standings with 45 points.

Meanwhile, Tarkkala sits seventh in the E3 class with 107 points, while Salminen is third in the Enduro 2 class with four rounds remaining in the 2009 season.
