Toseland’s band to make IMS debut

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Aug. 20, 2009
MotoGP racer James Toseland and his band Crash will headline a concert at the Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Crash will perform on the Turn 6 Stage on the IMS infield at 4:45 p.m. EST on Aug. 29, following the Saturday MotoGP qualifying session.

“We are very excited to have James and his band perform now for the enthusiastic Indianapolis fans,” says Bob Starr, Yamaha’s general manager of national communications, “and once again, Yamaha Music has supplied all of the band’s instruments, so this is just fantastic for the Yamaha brand.”

Crash performed at the previous two U.S. Grand Prix events at Laguna Seca but this will be the band’s first performance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Toseland did perform at the inaugural Indianapolis Grand Prix in 2008, playing piano with members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. This year, the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha rider will be joined by the rest of his bandmates, singer/guitarist Paul Grant-Reason, bass player Warren Odell and drummer Gavin Hall.

“Everyone enjoyed James’ talents on the piano with members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra last year during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP,” says Mel Harder, Indianapolis Motor Speedway senior vice president, operations. “So we know our fans will be thrilled to hear James and Crash rock the stage this year with their high-energy performance.”
