2021 Honda ADV150 Certified by CARB

The Honda ADV150 may soon be coming to the U.S., as the California Air Resources Board has certified the scooter for the 2021 model year. [UPDATE: Honda has submitted VIN data for the ADV150 with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, further confirming it will be coming to the U.S. as a 2021 model]

Originally announced for Indonesia and other Asian markets last July, the ADV150 is a smaller version of Honda’s X-ADV “adventure scooter” sold in Europe, but with the 149cc SOHC engine of the PCX150 and V-Matic automatic transmission. In Indonesia, the ADV150 claims 14.3 hp at 8500 rpm and 10.2 lb-ft. at 6500 rpm, and we don’t expect those figures to change significantly for the American market [UPDATE: the VIN information submitted to NHTSA confirms the claimed peak output of 14.3 hp]. As with the PCX, the Indonesian version of the ADV150 comes with an idle-stop system that turns off the engine when the scooter is sitting idle for a few seconds, but that feature is not likely to come to the U.S. version.

The ADV150 uses a double cradle frame, a telescopic fork and twin rear shocks from Showa. The Asian-spec model is available with ABS, though that’s no guarantee the American version will. The 14-inch front wheel sports a 110/80-14MC tire while a 13-inch 130/70 tire is mounted to the rear wheel.

The seat is 31.3 inches from the ground, which makes it taller than the PCX’s 30.1-inch seat height. Under the saddle is a 7.4-gallon storage space. The fuel tank holds 2.1 gallons of fuel, just like the PCX. In Indonesia, the ABS-equipped ADV150 has a claimed curb weight of 293 pounds, while the non-ABS version claims a 291-pound curb weight.
