2017 KTM 390 DUKE AND RC 390 TO MAKE NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT AT NEW YORK’S INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SHOW
The bikes will be unveiled to U.S. press for the first time during the IMS media day presentation on Friday, Dec. 9 at the KTM tradeshow booth inside New York’s Javits Center.
KTM 390 DUKE – CORNER ROCKET
Deemed the “corner rocket,” the 2017 KTM 390 DUKE has big features in a smaller package. New, aggressive styling proclaims that the 390 DUKE is a READY TO RACE naked motorcycle with the performance and handling to back it up. The bodywork is sharp and modern with a slammed, predatory stance. Up front a new LED headlight and bright, full-color TFT digital dash boast features that are not found in this class of motorcycle. At the rear, an exposed bolt-on subframe sits below the redesigned seat and pillion.
Underneath the new aggressive look, a compact DOHC 373 cc single pumps out class-leading power and torque for a ride that only a DUKE can provide. Putting the power to the ground is now smoother and more controllable than ever before thanks to the new ride-by-wire throttle. That power, combined with a steel trellis frame, a new 43 mm WP upside-down fork and a larger, more powerful 320 mm front brake rotor take the ride to the next level.
KTM RC 390 – RACING GENES
For 2017, the KTM RC 390 gets a host of updates to further bolster the READY TO RACE nature of this single-cylinder SUPERSPORT machine. A new side exhaust and graphics update the looks of the RC 390 while wider mirrors, new seats and adjustable levers increase the comfort and adjustability for a wide range of riders.
Thanks to engineering like vertically stacked gearbox shafts, the sophisticated DOHC single of the KTM RC 390 is extremely compact and weighs in at a mere 79 lbs. With its four-valve cylinder head with DLC-coated finger followers, dry sump lubrication with crankcase evacuation and three-way catalytic converter, it has all it needs to combine 44 hp of maximum power with impressive refinement, extreme reliability and class-leading performance. A new PASC slipper clutch keeps the rear end in line while the new 320 mm front brake rotor hauls the RC 390 down from speed with increased bite and power. There is no question that the RC 390 is the only choice for those looking for the most performance out of a smaller supersport mount.
