2016 Triumph Street Twin Specs and US Pricing Announced

Triumph has released full specifications U.S. pricing for the new 2016 Street Twin. John Burns just attended the press launch test of the new Street Twin and we will have his review of the reborn Twin published shortly but here’s what we know.
The 2016 Triumph Street Twin will be offered in five color options. Pricing starts at $8,700 for the Jet Black option. For $8,950, you get a choice of the Aluminum Silver, Cranberry Red, Matt Black and Phantom Black color options.

From the outside, the Twin’s engine looks identical to the 1200cc parallel-Twin in the Bonneville and Thruxton models but the Street Twin’s actually only displaces 900cc , making it the entry-level model in the revamped Bonneville line. It has an extra 35cc on the 2015 Bonneville engine but at a claimed 54 hp, it’s actually down about 13 horse from the old engine. The Street Twin makes up for it in torque, claiming 59.0 lb-ft., a 17.6% improvement from the previous engine.

The classically-styled Street Twin also comes with modern technology, equipped with ride-by-wire throttle control, switchable ABS, traction control and even a USB socket which surprisingly isn’t still isn’t commonly offered on current motorcycles.
Check back later this week for Burns’ full first ride review.
