Vietnam Police Use Web To Stop Motorcycles + Video

If you find yourself on a two-wheeler in Vietnam and have the urge to break the law, think twice. Vietnam police are using a Spiderman-like web cannon to halt motorcyclists in their tracks.

Before jumping to conclusions, take a look at the video below. The web doesn’t completely encapsulate the rider and force a crash. Instead, the tangled mess of weaving is shot towards the rear tire, where it gets lodged between anything used to move the bike forward, gently slowing it to a stop.

It seems like a rather effective method for stopping motorcyclists trying to evade authority, but it likely would be much more difficult to administer here due to the higher speeds of motorbikes, plus the risks involved if the officer misses their target. Still, seems pretty clever.
