love it great little bike

i have rode sveral bikes in past years the last being about 9 years ago.mostly rode 650 to 750 cc bikes.since gas prices being as high as they are recently and spending 40 to 60 bucks a week in my old ford pu to get back and forth to work i decided to look into other means of transport.after waistin...g about 700 bucks on a chinese junk scooter that will not start i decided to look into a small motorcycle i looked at the 09 rebel and the susuki gz 250 and the v-star after a comparison i decided on the v star mainly because it just looks more like quality than the others.i was concerned as to whether it would have enough power since i weigh in at around 220 and it is suprisingly powerful.all in all it is a great bike.plenty of torqe and great looks and a prety good ride.the only things i am going to change are the hand grips to the spongy ones as ther is quite a bit of vibration in the handle bars at 55 mph and higher which is to be expected with a small bike.and add some saddle bags and maybe a trunk for storage to haul items from the store.i would reccomend this bike to any one for a daily commute transportation.i would say this is the best 250 cc street cruiser on the market. Great Bike!

I bought this bike when I started riding a little over a year ago. I have gotten comfortable riding and gained my confidence on this bike. It has been reliable and economical. 70 mgg!!! It has never failed and never let me down. I am going to stick with the Yamaha's and move up now.

Starter bike I can stay with.

My first bike, owned it for just over a month. Took MSF course on Kawasaki 125 and Rebel 250. I wanted to stay on a 250 for economic reasons(MSRP and fuel mileage). V Star has a deeper exhaust note and better 0-40 speed although the Rebel probably has a greater top speed. I'm 220 lbs and get 65m...pg, mostly city. Highway would be better. Gets me up to 70mph without much effort, but the wieght makes it feel unstable to me for long trips at this speed. It seems to be most comfortable up to about 55mph. V Star has great styling and at a quick glance looks bigger than it is, thanks to its v-twin. It is more expensive than the competition, but if you get a holdover that closes the price gap. Fun learner with best looks and arguably best performance in it's class that I really don't see myself getting tired of for a long time. Read Full Review

Great bike for a newbie or around town

This is my first bike in 33 years (I am 59 now). I rode for a very short time back then on a Honda CB175 and loved it. I was dismayed to find that those smaller bikes are no longer available new, but this V Star 250 is the next best thing! I looked at all of the 250 street bike and chose this over a...ll of the others. I found it (barely) used so I grabbed it. I may eventually get a Suzuki S40 or a bugger bike but for now this one is a good match for me. It is not too intimidating (the Ninja 250 scared me) but it has plenty of pickup and is easy to handle around town. I have heard it is not a freeway cruiser but I never intend to try it on the freeway anyway. I use it to commute to and from work and just for enjoying the ride. Read Full Review
