city bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 08, 2013Fast enough in town, actually really fun to hop around on with friends. Can beat the traffic, unfortunately top speed is not good. This bike struggles at highway speeds. I also dislike Suzuki now because of stupid little problems with this bike. Little things like wiring, since my headlights came ... unplugged one day. The good news is the high gas mileage and the ease of working on this simple motorcycle. I average 52 miles per gallon city or highway pretty evenly.

Nice bike for those under 5'9" only!
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 21, 2010I like this bike, but am craving something bigger and more powerful. I fixed the backfiring problem by carefully drilling a hole in the brass plug in the carb and prying it out. Then I enriched the fuel mixture and reset the idle. Easy fix. I've had no problems with this bike because I do all the ... maintenance myself. It's an easy bike to service; that's why I bought it instead of a twin cylinder bike. The service manual and the owners manual disagree somewhat; to really understand what this bike requires you must have the service manual and also go to suzukisavage.com and learn about the cam chain tensioner and other information. It can fail at as little as 10,000 miles and destroy the engine.

The savage
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 25, 2009I love my S40 deeply. Although it is a little small for me, i am 1.84 m. It is the best medium cruiser ever built. For the city it is great, has good acceleration. When slowing down it farts, it is a kind of seal the savage has. I for sure like that much more than the non stop noise (thats not a ... sound) of a harley. It is a simple motorcycle, as things should be, simple and nice.

Best little cruier out there
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 08, 2009If you are a beginner like me, this is the perfect bike for you as it is reliable, simple, and easy to handle. Just starting out, you do not want a monster of a bike that would get you in trouble, and this bike fits the bill. Great on gas too. Be safe!

By (I am an Owner) on Apr 06, 2009I have put 6k miles on this bike with no mechanical problems. It has been reliable as can be. Drive it back and forth to work everyday and enjoy the heck out of it. Reliable, simple, good on gas, fun to ride, good power (goes 60 easy enough) and nice looks. What else could you want and by the ... way it is a Suzuki so you know you are getting quality. this bike sucks
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 03, 2009i bought my s40 brand in 06 i rode it just about everyday. iv,e had too many problems with this bike for example i had to change the battery twice!!! also had some electrical issues also right at the 2 year mark of ownership the motor blew up!!!!! I kept up with all the proventative maintance nessary ... (oil changes etc,) It ended up with a blown seal in the motor no fault of my own!!!!!!! the mechanic said i would have never seen the oil leak unless it was parked on the pavement for a couple of days. It leak oil on the drive belt and slung it straight back leaving no evidence. He said I would have also had to check the oil once a week.my suggestion is think really had about buying this bike. oh and the bike has 8000 miles on it!!!!! good luck with this bike!!!!!!!!
