Not Reliable - Bought A Lemon



Bought a 2008 Schwinn Newport 50CC(new, not used) in hopes to have less mechanical trouble and for the prestige name. It is a DEAD lemon. Going to college, this is my only ride. This has had trouble on and off. Now I am on foot. The company this was purchased from w...ent out of business so it can not be fixed locally. I was unsuccessful at finding anyone local to work on a Schwinn; Schwinn has not found anyone local to do the repairs. I don't have the funds to rent a U-HAUL to take it hundreds of miles to another dealership for repairs. Good value if you know what to do

I personally own a Schwinn Newport 50cc i have had some carb trouble with it i bought it from a dealer brand new in 2011 and it was a 2009 model i replaced the carb because it went out but it was under warrenty so it was free of charge it did take almost 3 months to get it from them though. now i ha...ve had no problems with it after that. i de restricted it and it goes about 50 now which is perfect for around town. now saying that it is only a GY6 engine and there are many parts for it online that you can buy and replace/ upgrade. all it takes is a little time working with it i am very pleased with it and would now recomend it to most any one.
After derestricting it the preformance is great the quality is low but the reliability now is great. the ride and comfort is okay NEED TO UPGRADE REAR SHOCK TO BE SMOOTHER. and the value that i bought mine at at liberty cycle in liberty missouri was great only 500 dollars brand new. hope this helps. wont start

good day newport 50 will not start.. need to use screw driver @ starter to crank... also no spark @ spark plug wire.. could it be the black box after the starter before the spark plug wire? Read Full Review
