		Thrilling power, great brakes, and light/stable steering geometry make this bike a joy for short spirited rides. Variable engine mapping dramatically alters power delivery; allowing the rider to tailor performance to conditions and skill level. The motor pulls very hard from 3800-7800 rpms. Power wh<span class="simple_review_box" >...</span><span class="expand_review_box" style="display:none;">eelies are a given in the first three gears. At 7600rpm mine indicated 109mph and seemed &quot;topped out.&quot; Ergonomics are great. A long flat seat allows you transfer weight quickly and premium controls ensure positive/accurate use of the clutch and brakes. The wheels and tires are simply impeccable. As I mentioned earlier, this bike is not for long rides. The suspension is very firm, even at the softest settings, and the seat is thinly padded and brutally hard. Of course, at highway speeds the wind buffeting is pretty extreme.</span>

		The KTM 690 SMC is by far, the most fun bike I've ever had the pleasure to ride.  It accelerates like a bat out of you know where, corners like it's on rails and looks awesome.  They could have made the seat a little more comfortable, but that's OK.  I haven't had a new bike for some time.  I'm real<span class="simple_review_box" >...</span><span class="expand_review_box" style="display:none;">ly glad I chose the SMC.  This is the kind of bike everyone should ride before you settle down to cruising or some other style of riding.  I've owned many bikes but nothing like this, pure power and balance.
