Best beginer bike hands down
By (I am an Owner) on May 05, 2011This is like having two bikes. Below 7rpm it is very forgiving. Above 7rpm and you are screaming through the gears.

By () on May 02, 2011my 500r goes 50 miles to work, ive found that it rides good , yes their is a lil vibration, just enough to know your sitting on top a engine, it handles prety good,i live in north ga mountians, sharp curves, steep climbs, and then you have the other side,, comming off the mountian, its a real good ... all around bike, it works hard and plays hard to,

Nice Standard, if underpowered
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Mar 01, 2010First off, this is a standard motorcycle, not a sportbike. Motorcycle.com may have classified it as such because of the Ninja name. No low-slung clip-ons let alone a performance engine on this bike.
My girlfriend bought this bike to learn on over three years ago and she has not outgrown ... it yet.
Make no mistake, this parallel twin 500 has no shot of keeping up with a 600 class racer, but there is enough power to keep the newbie and, um, mediumbie coming back for more.
There is some engine vibration, but not too much, and the bike handles pretty well. The brakes could be better, however... I guess Kawasaki feels if its not ultra fast, not need to stop ultra quickly.
I wish this would have been my first bike.
