Best 1000 Sport Bike of all time

I bought my Silver and Black 2008 Honda CBR1000RR in May 2008. I could not be happier with it. The bike is lighter than two of the current 600 sportbikes and handles even better. The bike has phenominal flickability and can out accelerate just about anything on the market. The midrange is down r...ight scary. The bike is of the usual high Honda quality and the buzz on the street about this bike is growing. I love this bike. If you are in the market for any bike, I would suggest riding the 2008 CBR1000RR before you make any purchases. You will not be dissapointed. Read Full Review

Definately puts the "fun in "fun factor"

Comfort, power, speed and agility! This bike has it all. I am a guy that loves to travel and tour around. My last bike was a 2002 VFR 800 interceptor and I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by looking at purchasing a CBR1000 due to the fact that I heard so many comments about how uncomfo...rtable "crotch rockets" were to ride and this may conflict with my enjoyment of just getting out there and ride! I purchased the CBR1000 anyway, put on a throttle lock, GPS and some other goodies to personalize this new bike. I was amazed on how comfortable this bike was to ride when travelling around. I actually find it more comfortable then my VFR. When I say this bike has it all I really mean it. For me it has all the comfort, power, performance, handling, agility and reliablity that you will ever need on the street and quite possibly the track.
Anyways, to ride it is to love it and I absolutely love this bike!

Experienced racer/rider tells it like it is.

This bike is so good that it will make you think you just got better. Honda finally built the bike they needed to build and as soon as it came out I took it for a test ride. Granted you can't discover much about a sport bike on a test ride but I was amazed at how small and light it felt. It behav...ed much better than my Suzuki GSXR1000s (I had 2, an 02 and 03) over bumpy corners and given off/on throttle transitions. Not that I planned to, but I bought the bike that day. I've since ridden it very hard, I have 15 years roadracing experience, and have found it to be immaculately smooth and precise. The slipper clutch is fantastic. I've taken it to the Texas Hill Country, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and through San Francisco traffic, almost every mile 2 up, and other than what appears to be a voracious appetite for rear tires, having eaten the first one in 2000 miles, the bike has been flawless. Right now the bike is still bone stock. All it would take to make this bike perfect for me would be a set of bar risers, a bigger gas tank for longer range and a BikeLitez tail tuck kit to clean up the rear end. The complaints I could have about the bike if I got to nit-picking? There's no way to stick a magnetic tank bag to the plastic tank cover and I haven't been able to find a tank bag that will mount to the bike. I also think the swingarm spool mounts could be stronger but that would have added an ounce to the unsprung weight so I can't fault Honda for their choice on that one. The transmission can be made to miss a gear, especially if you get sloppy with your upshifts. The bike hets hot in traffic very fast and it doesn't like sitting in traffic at all. It will ping on 92 octane when the coolant temp gets over 210 degrees. For fuel mileage I have been averaging 38 mpg with 45 in the national parks at 45-ish MPH and 36 to 37 in the hill country where the rear tire took a lot of ...um... punishment. Bottom line? The magazines are right. This is the bike to get. Oh, and my theory on the oil burning ones is that they were switched to synthetic oil before the rings were seated. Mine is fine and I'm going to run conventional for at least the first 5000 miles. I've done this before... And if you want the "pure sex on wheels" look, the Bikelitez tail tuck and the Taylor Made exhaust make the bike look 100% motoGP. How can this be?!

Bought my silver and black in august. An awesome bike, easy to ride fast, yet fun and exiting.



Love the looks and the feel, the best bike I've ever ridden.



But there is a problem im having of the bike burning oil. At 3500 km it is around 250ml per 1000 km.



Honda is sorting it out as a war...ranty issue, but it is a shame a company that big is so quite about a large number of new cbr's affected by this issue.

I just hope they replase or fix it well cos I dont want any other bike.

The buit quality and finish seems perfect, but the bikes burning oil which is a fundamental flaw of the engine. Therefore I give it a low score in Quality and reliablity. Read Full Review

Great Bike, better tha the 2007

Upgraded from my 2007 CBR1000RR. I couldn't be more happy. Though the 2008 reportedly has less power than the 2007, I find it hard to believe. When getting on the gas, the tire spins up even at speed. The mid range is really strong if not too strong. The bike feels electric in that it is so smo...oth when normal riding.
