My 08 Honda Rebel 250
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 03, 2021At age 85, I like the Rebel for its ease of handling. I rate it 5 in all
categories because as I see it the bike
does everything it was designed to do.
I especially like the light weight,
fuel economy and low maintenance
requirements.
I note ... some reviewers rate the performance a 3 or 4. That is their privilege.. However, I rate it a five because I knew What it was capable when I bought it.
It is a great bike for beginners, those smaller in stature, The elderly (at least this one - me). I rate it as an excellent bike.

perfect starter bike
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 26, 2015It was perfect to learn on. Small, not too much power, not heavy, would not let me go much over 80 mph. So great to learn on.
Downside, no passing speed, bad night headlamps, 300 lbs max weight load, really too small to carry a passenger. Which is all perfect for the beginner rider ... ie; stay off freeway, don't drive at night and carry only yourself . Love my bike but time to upgrade after 7 years!!!!

Great Starter Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 25, 2014I went through a Basic Riders Course on a Rebel and I couldn't get enough of it. Passed the class and took a couple grand to to one of the local dealers and picked the Cycle up. I am super pleased with the motorcycle, rides nice and smooth, shifts well and its easy and simple to do some of your own ... fixing. I have no background in mechanics and with a little guidance I'm able to replace my air filter and even spliced in my own fuel filter. The bike is very user friendly. Only complaint it required some fixing right of the bat but thats beacuse the bike was sitting and the dealership sold it without doing and maintenace on the Bike.

Fantastic 250cc
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 14, 2011Exactly as the others say, for a 250cc it's everything you need. Mine was a whiny little thing so I changed the pipes and it sounds beautiful now. There is no problem getting it up over 70mph, tops out at 75mph, but there's no room for power beyond that. I even ride 2-up on this bike and it doesn't ... have much affect on the speed/power. For any starters or commuters, I'd pick this bike over any other in it's class. I've tried all the cruisers in it's range and I'll stick with Hondas even when I outgrow my '08 Silver Beauty. The bike's light weight (330lbs wet) and small turn radius make it ideal for simplistic riding. Probably going to be one of my all time favorite bikes no matter how many I ride. A+ in my book.

This bike is a blast
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 06, 2010Bought a Rebel for my wife to learn to ride on and now whenever she isn't looking I am out stealing it to go for a ride. I drive a Suzuki Boulevard but there is nothing to compare with the handeling of this little cruiser. I am 5'10", 200lbs and I have no problem getting it up to highway speeds. ... There is an annoying vibration in the pegs and grips that will make you go numb after a couple of hours, but still a blast to ride.

Great little bike!
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 29, 2009I have owned my Honda Rebel for over a year now and still have no complaints! It was the first bike I have ever purchased and was the perfect starter bike. For a 250 it has plenty of get up and go. Now that I have become familiar with riding I would someday like to upgrade to a bigger size bike ... but this one is just fine for now. GREAT BIKE...no complaints!

Best Beginner Cycle
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 14, 2009The purpose of the Rebel is to allow newbies to develop experience and judgement. It performs that duty in an outstanding manner. It is lightweight, easy to maneuver, very frugal on gas, forgiving of mistakes, and has style. I have put on 700 miles in a few months, mostly in a small village or ... on quiet county lanes. Outstanding. Opened up the throttle once in fifth just to see what it would do. I backed off at 78m.p.h. Handling was stable at that speed, even though the road was rough. Insurance costs in WI are under $130 per year, and resale value is VERY good for the Rebel. Very highest recommendation for new riders just developing skills, or for riding around town regularly. When I purchase a larger cycle, I WILL BE KEEPING MY REBEL.

great bike especially for the shorter rider
By (I am an Owner) on May 29, 2009I purchased my rebel in december and have been riding it for several days now I really love it. It was definately the right choice for me. I sat on several bike including the suzuki gz250 and still came back to this bike. I'm a short woman only 5'3 and this bike fits me perfect and runs like a dream. ... Its very hard to find a bike for shorter people to be able to ride but this bike fits the bill.

2009 Honda Rebel
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 22, 2008This is actually for the 2009 Honda Rebel. The 2009 is not yet on the year list for the reviews, so I had to put it under the 2008.
There really is not much difference between the 2008 and 2009 Honda Rebels, except for color availability. The 2008 come in two colors; silver or black. ... The 2009 Rebels come in blue or black.
Performance wise I gave it a 3/5 stars. The Honda engine is very reliable but the Rebel does rev pretty high. This gives it a high pitch hum while you ride. It will do exactly what a 250cc motorcycle is made for.
Quality and Reliability, I gave it 4/5 stars. Again, due to the Honda engine, this bike will last for a long time without a lot of trouble. Just as long you follow regular maintenance schedules. I did not give a complete 5 stars because afterall a 250cc bike, and does not have all the qualities of a bigger bike.
For ride and comfort, the Rebel got 3/5 stars. This bike is great for short in town errands and running about. I have an hour commute and the seat can start to get a bit uncomfortable. Due to the high revving during interstate riding, it does vibrate a lot and my feet get tingly and numb after time.
For Value, I gave it 5/5. With a price tag of just under $3400, this is a great starter bike that won't break the budget. You get a classic cruiser look, a reliable Honda engine, and overall a tough little bike, for a great price.

Rebel with a cause!
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 01, 2008The 2008 Honda Rebel definetly has a cause... it is a well-priced cruiser, that is affordable, good on gas, and looks pretty cool too.
I have owned mine for a number of months and I really don't have any complaints. This is typical Honda build-quality. I guess the only thing I wouldn't mind ... is a bit more power.
